A Call for Peace and Justice in Ebonyi State

It is painful that as Nigerians we strongly condemn the killings carried out by bandits and terrorists in the northern part of the country, where innocent Christians and Muslims are losing their lives. We raise our voices against insecurity and plead for peace across Nigeria. Yet, sadly, in our own region in the East, people are still living in fear because we are destroying ourselves.

In Ebonyi State, where we do not have bandits or terrorists, our greatest threat has become the hatred and violence among ourselves. Brothers are turning against brothers. Communities that should live together in peace are now divided by anger, suspicion, and bloodshed.

My own community, Ishinkwo, is a clear example. It is heartbreaking that misunderstandings, disagreements, or struggles over expectations and interests have led to the killing of fellow human beings.
! No disagreement should ever be strong enough to justify the shedding of a brother’s blood. Violence can never bring justice or peace.

Life is sacred, and every soul lost leaves behind families, pain, and wounds that may take generations to heal. If we truly desire development, unity, and progress in Ebonyi State, we must first choose peace over hatred.

I humbly appeal to the government of Ebonyi State, under the leadership of His Excellency RT hon Francis nwifuru, to ensure that proper investigations are carried out concerning the killings and violence affecting our communities. The killing of our traditional ruler,Late HRM Eze josephat A ikegwu is trembling and our people feel insecured, how can we be afraid in our community?
The government gave us security to protect us, what are they doing?
We need immediate action from the government of ebonyi
Those responsible must be brought to justice so that the rule of law will prevail and confidence can be restored among the people.

Justice is the foundation of peace. When justice is done, healing can begin, and communities can rebuild trust again.

Let us remember that we are one people. No land, no disagreement, and no political interest is worth the blood of our brothers and sisters.

May peace return to Ishinkwo, to Ebonyi State, and to Nigeria as a whole.
