The biggest mistake I ever made wasn’t believing words it was ignoring patterns. By the time I saw the truth, the cost was already too high.

My True Life Story

There are days in your life that never leave you.

This is one of mine.

I was eight months pregnant with my first child. My due date was still weeks away, but one day I noticed something was wrong. My baby, who used to kick so strongly that I could see my stomach move, suddenly became unusually quiet.

At first, I thought maybe the baby was sleeping. But a mother's heart knows when something is not right.

Thankfully, the next morning was my antenatal day, so I told the doctor. I was given a movement chart and asked to monitor my baby's kicks. After monitoring, the movements were still not reassuring.

I was sent for a scan.

After the first scan, the doctor's expression changed. He told me my baby's condition was concerning and that I needed another emergency more detailed scan immediately.

I had already spent the little money I had for the first scan, so I called h**band and explained that our baby was in danger and I urgently needed money for the scan.

His response was that he didn't have the money.

No "Which hospital are you in?"
No "I'm on my way."
No "Don't worry, we'll get through this together."
Just those words.

At that moment, I felt completely alone.
As I stood there, terrified that I might lose my baby, I realized I was facing one of the worst moments of my life without the person I expected to stand beside me.

I wasn't asking for anything unnecessary. I was asking for help to save the life of our unborn child.

I called my elder sister. She couldn't get to me immediately, but she rushed to church and began praying for me.

Then I called my elder brother in Lagos.

He didn't hesitate. He immediately sent the money for the scan.

Because of him, I was able to do the emergency scan.

The result was frightening. The doctors said my baby's condition was critical, and I was taken to the emergency ward.

I remember the doctors asking me, "Where is your husband? Tell him to bring the baby's things."

I called him and told him it was now an emergency.

But I faced those hours without him by my side.

My elder sister kept encouraging me over the phone. She told me to keep praying one simple prayer in my heart:

"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me."

"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me."

Again and again, I repeated those words in my heart.

That prayer became my strength through the longest night of my life.

The doctors had prepared me for the possibility of surgery. I didn't know if my baby would survive. I didn't even know what the outcome would be.

But God had the final say.

While I was in the emergency ward, the doctors checked me again and noticed some improvement. They detected movement and decided to induce labour, believing I could deliver naturally.

Against all fear and uncertainty, I gave birth to my baby safely.

That day reminded me that when hope seems gone, God can still turn things around.

I share this story because neglect is not about gender.

A good heart is not a "man thing" or a "woman thing." It is about being human.

A child needs parents who will show up. A woman facing a pregnancy emergency deserves support. A child fighting for life should never come second to anything.

No parent is perfect, but when life calls, love should answer.

That night changed me forever.

And I will never forget it.

Some people will spend freely to impress strangers, then act like you’re asking for too much when it’s food, school fees, or milk for their own children.
Being broke and choosing the wrong priorities are not always the same thing.

If you’ve ever had to beg for what should never have required begging, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
What’s your opinion?

Some people don’t bring conflict because of what you did. They bring it because peace feels unfamiliar to them.
Stop carrying guilt that was never yours.

12/07/2026

The hardest lesson I ever learned? You can’t beg someone to care.

Some wounds don’t leave bruises they leave memories you’ll never forget. 💔

The moment you stopped reacting, they became more angry. That wasn’t a coincidence. Pay attention.

Not everyone will remember things the way they happened. Protect yourself.
Keep records, save messages, and write down important dates. Memory fades. Facts don’t.

Being admired in public means very little if you’re failing the people who depend on you most.

One day you’ll realize you were never too sensitive
You were just constantly put in a position where you had to defend yourself.

If this message speaks to you, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
