FPTB USHERS IN NEW ERA WITH TRIUMPHANT SUG ELECTION AFTER 22-YEAR HIATUS

In a momentous return to student democracy, the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has successfully conducted elections for the Students' Union Government (SUG) executives, marking the first such poll in 22 years since 2004. This election signals a renewed commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive campus community for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The elections, previously suspended due to disruptions by suspected cultists, were revived following a thorough appraisal of the student body, social dynamics, and academic environment. The process unfolded seamlessly under the watchful eye of the Students' Affairs Division, ensuring fairness and transparency that earned widespread acclaim.

The newly elected executives, poised to champion students' welfare and initiatives, are:
1. President: Idris Mustapha Abubakar
2. Vice President: Peace Sunday Nikki
3. Secretary General: Chung Weng Dauda
4. Treasurer: Idris Sani Yunus
5. Financial Secretary: Jacob Ezekiel Ojochegbe
6. Welfare Director: Jimoh Abdullateef
7. Assistant Secretary General: Solomon James
8. Welfare Director II: Hassan Muhammad Kabir
9. PRO I: Aliyu Mubarak Saeed
10. PRO II: Iyanda Rhoda Oluwatoyin

In his acceptance speech, President Idris Usman pledged inclusive leadership: "We will carry everyone along and work hand in hand with Polytechnic Management to ensure all student needs are adequately met."

Registrar of the Polytechnic, Alh. Kasimu Salihu, who witnessed the proceedings, commended the Students' Affairs Division for their exemplary organisation. He reaffirmed the institution's dedication to student welfare, promising enhanced packages and a conducive learning environment. "Management operates an open-door policy," he emphasised, urging the new leaders to embrace their roles with diligence and engage in constructive dialogue.

The ceremony reached its peak with Barrister Bilkisu Lami Jimoh administering the oath of office to the executives.

This historic election not only revives student governance but also strengthens the bond between leadership and the student populace, promising a brighter future for all in Polytechnic.
