The Passing of Mr. Ejiofor Isaac (41 years old), fondly known as “Bob”
Ka ihe ọma anyị méré mmadụ ibe anyị, ghara igbu anyị
Asim ka Ọgọ gị ghara igbu gị
According to Ikenna (Ọnwa II), his younger brother, based on the account given by Ejiofor’s wife, Chiemerie (Ejiofor's cousin), the son of Sigidi (Samuel - Ejiofor's Uncle), along with several other members of Onyeke’s family, had been charging their phones at Ejiofor’s shop free of charge for a long time. However, as Nigeria’s economic hardship worsened last year, Ejiofor found it necessary to introduce a fee for the service.
He first informed Chiemerie, explaining that circumstances had changed and that he would now need to pay like everyone else. Ejiofor, however, added that Chiemerie could still charge for free later but only when things become convenient for him. Unfortunately, Chiemerie did not take this well. He became angry and began to insult Ejiofor, even going as far as calling him a “fake pastor.” In response, Ejiofor calmly advised him to take his phone to Afor Market or any other charging outlet if he was dissatisfied.
From that moment, Chiemerie continued to publicly insult Ejiofor, even doing so on a Sunday at church.
On a later day, Chiemerie’s younger brother brought some phones to Ejiofor’s shop for charging. As was his usual practice, Ejiofor issued a collection card to ensure proper identification upon pickup. However, when it was time to collect the phones, it was Chiemerie (who had earlier been told not to return) who showed up. Ejiofor asked him to call his younger brother to present the collection card, explaining that he only released items to the person who brought them or with proper verification.
This led to further escalation. Chiemerie threatened Ejiofor, saying he would break his head if the phones were not handed over immediately. Despite attempts by a customer, Ogbuawa’s wife, to calm the situation, Chiemerie slapped Ejiofor. As Ejiofor attempted to defend himself, he was restrained and urged to let it go. While Ejiofor resumed attending to other customers, Chiemerie picked up the spine of a palm frond (igbegri) nearby and struck him on the side of the head. Ogbuawa’s wife raised an alarm, attracting people who intervened and de-escalated the situation before Chiemerie left.
It is worth noting that there had been a prior disagreement between both men, during which Ejiofor had reported Chiemerie’s behavior to his parents in hopes of correction.
Following the incident at the shop, Ejiofor later took the phones to Chiemerie’s family house. Upon seeing him approach, Chiemerie and his younger brother reportedly prepared for another confrontation. Present at the scene were their sister, Chioma, their mother, Louisa, their father, Samuel and their grandmother. As Ejiofor attempted to explain the earlier incident to the parents, he was attacked. During the altercation, Chioma stated that Chiemerie even pushed his grandmother to the ground when she tried to intervene.
After the assault, Ejiofor was eventually rescued. However, the following day, he began experiencing seizures, believed to be a result of the injuries he sustained. He was first taken to a hospital in Ogurute, where he underwent tests and received medication. Two days later, his condition worsened, with severe seizures and difficulty breathing. He was then transferred to Faith Foundation Mission Hospital, Nsukka, where he was placed on oxygen support. Sadly, after two more days, he passed away on 11th December, 2025.
We, the entire Ụmụ Okélé Youths, deeply mourn this painful loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, siblings, friends, and all who knew him.
May his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.

UNADU'S CONNECTIVITY PIONEER: Mr. Ozoemena Ossai (ézinwá ánà amụrụ ọrà)
In the heart of Unadu, a transformational story unfolds, thanks to the vision and determination of a noble individual, Mr. Ozoemena Ossai. His recent accomplishment in attracting an MTN mast installation to Unadu has not only significantly enhanced network coverage within and outside the town but has also paved the way for a brighter future.
The journey began during a poignant moment at Mr. Ozoemena's father's funeral on 12th February, 2021 when his friend from MTN faced the challenges of the poor network coverage in Unadu. This uneasy observation sparked a catalyst for change, as Mr. Ozoemena, armed with determination, took it upon himself with his friend's assistance to write a compelling letter to MTN, requesting the installation of a mast in his hometown.
While Mr. Ozoemena was diligently working on this project along with Mr. Felix Izuchukwu Onuche who provided him updates on the installation from the villa, the National Association of Unadu Graduates and Undergraduates (NAUGU), under the capable leadership of Pharm. Okpe Chekwube, was actively engaged in advocating for improved connectivity. The NAUGU Network Committee, led by Dr. George Adukwu, discovered MTN's ongoing mast installation project within the Afor Market axis during their assembly on December 30, 2022.
Recognizing the potential abandonment of the project, NAUGU sprang into action. They dispatched a letter to Glo Zonal office in Enugu, urging them to complete their long-abandoned mast project in Unadu. Simultaneously, a courier delivered a letter, accompanied by customized wall clocks, to MTN Enugu Zonal office. These strategic moves ensured the successful realization of the MTN mast project.
On November 4, 2023, Unadu experienced a groundbreaking moment as the MTN mast commenced operations, delivering 4G network connectivity not only within the town but also extending its reach to neighboring areas. This achievement marked a significant leap forward, especially considering the challenges the community faced in the past, where residents had to climb mountains or walk to specific locations to access a stable network.
The impact of this connectivity breakthrough goes beyond communication; it heralds the dawn of a new era for Unadu. With improved network coverage, the hope of establishing microfinance institutions, commercial banks, and technology-related businesses in Unadu is now a tangible reality. The once-remote town is poised to embrace modernity and development in the near future.
Mr. Ozoemena Ossai's commitment to the community extends beyond the realm of telecommunications. In 2018, he organized a football competition during the Christmas period, providing an avenue for youth engagement and empowerment. The league featured seven clubs, with ARSENAL football club of Unadu emerging as the champions, claiming a significant cash prize. This event not only showcased Mr. Ozoemena's generosity but also highlighted his dedication to uplifting the community in various ways.
In acknowledging Mr. Ozoemena's contributions, it is evident that he has become a beacon of hope for Unadu. Despite not holding traditional titles or political influence, his actions speak volumes, echoing the impact of influential figures. His efforts have brought about positive change, making Unadu more than just a town with a mast but a community with a promising future.
As we reflect on Mr. Ozoemena Ossai's journey, it becomes apparent that his influence may transcend the present, hinting at the possibility of him becoming Unadu's own "Obi Cubana" – a symbol of success and prosperity. Indeed, Mr. Ozoemena's story is one of inspiration, motivation, and a testament to the transformative power of individual dedication to community development.
Etoo d**e n'nke omere, omekwa ozo!
Unadu appreciates all parties involved in making this connectivity a reality.
Yours truly.

CHRONICLES OF UNADU GOVT. REPRESENTATIVES (01)
ONLINE CONVERSATION WITH HON. EMEKA AJOGWU (Former Vice Chairman, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council (2016-2019))
Author: Sir, Yesterdy, 24th February, 2020, a lady by name IFEOMA EZEMA (one of Unadu’s daughters) mentioned you on my previous posts (dropped on 23rd) showcasing the beauty of Afor Market, putting it to you thus;
“Emeka Agbo (which was meant to be Ajogwu) You’re in position to bring good things to Unadu because you’re the chairman: Collage of Education, put health center in order, mtn mast, good road, etc.”
Mayor, what is/are your reaction(s) to this comment?
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
I was a former Vice Chairman of the Local Government with limited powers. The current facelift being given to Afor Unadu is my conception and I know what it took me to get the approval.
Author: Wait please … approval from the Government to setup the market structures?
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
Yes please. Every market belongs to the government. You don’t just move in to carry out any project there without express approval. I wrote a proposal and followed it up. It took over 18 months for me to get the approval.
Author: For the market?
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
Yes. Even with the approval, there were people from Unadu who never wanted the project to see the light of the day. Some because they have encroached on the market landmark. Others because of sheer envy.
Author: Sorry please, when was your period of leadership?
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
That was between January, 2016 to December, 2019.
I used my contacts to attract the construction of a five classroom blocks at Community Secondary School, Unadu.
I also attracted the construction of three additional blocks: One for CPS 2 and Two in CPS 1
Author: Wonderful
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
Yes. I also facilitated the employment of over 20 Unadu indigenes into the civil service as primary school teachers.
For the sake of Unity, Peace and Progress in the land, on 28th March, 2016 (Easter Monday), I convened a brotherhood meeting of stakeholders in Unadu consisting of members of Unadu Town Union of different branches. Even the leaders of National Association of Unadu Graduates and Undergraduates (NAUGU) which you also came as one of them.
Author: Yes I do recall.
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
Again on 26th January, 2020, I convened another meeting to resolve the water management imbroglio. And another one is coming up on 14th April, Easter Tuesday, 2020.
Author: That’s so nice of you Mayor and our people are mostly happy for these your achievements and we expect even more from good representatives like yourself.
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
You see, development is a continuous process. If not, people like Chief J. N. Agada of blessed memory would have solved all our problems. Political positions only offer one a stage to prove his or her mettle. I have done my bit and I have left the stage. I would not say that I achieved all that is achievable but I am also leaving the stage far much better than I met it. My prayer is for the next generation to surpass whatever subtle achievement we recorded.
However, I must have to point out that it will be unfair to judge an elephant and fish using the ability to swim as a yardstick.
People should judge me as a Vice Chairman not as a Chairman. The two positions are quite different and the different roles are also defined.
Thank God another Vice Chairman is emerging from Unadu.
I am Emeka Ajogwu, God bless my home town.
Author: Mayor, God will take you to a higher position for us, you amazed me and I believe every Unadu indigene out there would wish you the best in your political aspirations.
Thank you so much.
Hon. E. Ajogwu:
You’re welcome.
Emeka Ajogwu,
Ifeoma Ezema
