Community health profession Is a branch of Medicine that is concern with PROMOTIVE , PREVENTIVE , CURATIVE AND REHABILITATIVE Health care Services

WHO ARE COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTIONERS

Are group of health care providers Who had undergone Specialized training in either SCHOOL OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY, COLLAGE OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OR COMMUNITY HEALTH OFFICERS TRAINING INSITUTIONS (In recognized university Teaching hospitals
In Nigeria ) And certified And licensed to practice base on the Law of the federal Republic of Nigeria CAP C19 0F 2004.


Community health Practioners Are the first level of contact between patient/ client and the health care system of the country

The training of community health practitioners started since 1977

As at now total Number number of community health practitioners in Nigeria are 213,352

REMEMBER
community health practitioners Are not DOCTORS NEITHER NURSES

HOW TO IDENTIFY COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTIONERS

Community health Practioners Are comonly seing in PRIMARY HEALTH CARE FACILITIES (health post, health clinic , primary health centers and comprehensive health Centres )
However they can Also being seing In secondary health Facilities ( Genaral hospitals and specialized hospital under Primary health care depertment)

They appear in Ash trouser white shirt or Ash trouser Ash shirt

FUNCTIONS OF COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTIONERS

1. conducting Immunization services

2. Treatment of common diseases and Injuries using a book called STANDING ORDERS

3. health Education on common prevealing Diseases

4. provision of family planning services

5. Provision of Antenatal care services

6. Conducting labour and delivery ( base on tasks shifting and tasks sharing policy of 2014)

7. They serve as catalyst between communities and other sectors such As Education , water Resources , Agriculture , transportation etc
