Your Pets are not feeding as usual?

Have you ever been in a situation where your pets are not feeding as usual? Or are you currently in this dilemma? Don’t panic!

When your pets are not feeding, a host of reasons could be a factor. This is why it’s important to always have a good history of your pets.

- The type of feed you give
- The quality of the feed
- The palatability of the feed and
- The health status of the pet itself are some of the reasons to watch out for.

a. You need to know that there are different types of feed for different species of pets. Dogs eat different types of food compared to Rabbits, Birds, Goats or Cats. You have to be sure you’re giving them the right feed first before you can complain that your pet is not feeding.

b. Foods rich in quality tend to get eaten well enough by pets than feeds low in quality. Foods that smell nice, appeals to the eyes, and of course not stale. To be sure you’re giving he right feed, contact your Vet or your Animal Health Worker for advise.

c. Some feeds are good looking than others (palatability). Same way in human we tend to love food that look better and we are more likely to feel like eating it from time to time. Same way. Your pets also want to eat food they love. Food that looks good to the eye.

d. The health status of the pet could be a factor too.
Once your pet is ill, you’d notice withdrawal from food. At this point, force feeding won’t be a nice idea. Your best shot is to call your Vet or your Animal Health Worker for the best advice.

It is usually of managemental origin i.e you could’ve handled it better with good pet management. Most of the times, infection is not why your pet is not feeding.
