CANCELLATION OF THE 3RD TERM CONFERENCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL MUSLIM STUDENTS (COSSMUS)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

The Directorate of Secondary School Coordination (DSSC), Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Oyo State Area Unit, wishes to inform all stakeholders, school coordinators, Muslim students, parents, guardians, and the general public that the planned 3rd Term Conference of Secondary School Muslim Students (COSSMUS) has been cancelled.

This difficult decision was reached after careful assessment of the prevailing circumstances affecting the safety and well-being of our students and participants. Among the factors considered are the current insecurity in various communities, the widespread fear arising from recent unfortunate incidents, the inconsistency in the school calendar, and the general atmosphere of uncertainty within the educational sector.

While we firmly place our trust in Allah (SWT), Who is the Best Protector and the Best Guardian, we are guided by the Islamic principle of preserving life and ensuring the safety of our students. Allah says:

"And do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good."

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:195)

We are deeply saddened by the recent reports of abductions involving school children, teachers, and school administrators across different parts of the country. We sincerely pray to Allah (SWT) to grant safety and protection to all students, teachers, and educational personnel, and to facilitate the swift and unhindered return of all those currently in captivity.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:

"The example of the believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion is that of a single body; when one limb suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever."

(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

In light of this noble teaching, we share in the pains of the affected families and communities, and we continue to remember them in our prayers.

We equally beseech Allah (SWT) to restore lasting peace, security, and stability to our land. May He remove every form of fear and hardship from our communities and grant ease in all our affairs. Allah says:

"For indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease."

(Surah Ash-Sharh 94:5-6)

Although we regret this decision and acknowledge the disappointment it may cause our students and other stakeholders who had looked forward to the conference, we remain hopeful and optimistic. We count on Allah's infinite mercy to grant us better opportunities in the coming days and academic terms, and to enable us to continue our mission of nurturing morally upright, academically sound, and spiritually conscious Muslim students.

We appreciate the understanding, patience, and continued support of all concerned parties. May Allah (SWT) protect us all, preserve our educational institutions, and bless our collective efforts.
