Do you know that the way you train your dog depends a lot on his breed?

Every dog breed has their own unique innate behaviors and tendencies which respond to different types of training.

Because praising your dog when he behaves correctly encourages him to repeat that behavior.

Always make sure to show you dog some approval when he obeys you or learns something new.

To start with, he will repeat the behavior to win more of your approval, and by repeating these behaviors over time, he will become trained and conditioned to act that way without the thought of praise.

#5 Easy Housebreaking Tips for Your Puppy

When you bring home your new puppy, you have to start some potty trainings immediately.

With this few easy housebreaking tips, it won't be long before you have a potty-trained puppy and clean floors.

1. Puppies are like children. They do not have the kind of control that adult dogs usually have when it comes to poo-ing.

As a general rule, the smaller your dog, the more frequently he'll need to go outside.

For the first few days or a week, place several newspapers at the door that will be used to let your dog out.

That'll help him learn where all the doors are, but at first just use one door to take him out to do his "duty."

2. Take your puppy out into the yard about 10 minutes after he eats and 5-10 minutes after he drinks.

Although dogs should always have water available for drinking, it's fine to just give him the water dish every couple of hours rather than keeping it out all the time if you'll be with him during the day.

3. When you take your pet outside just set him down and ignore him.

Don't play with him, just stay there with him.

As soon as he completes his "business," praise him or give him a treat as reward and take him back inside right away.

4. He will make mistakes. And that's normal.

If you find him in the middle of a "goof", don't raise your voice at all.

Instead, pick him up (even if he's right in the middle of what he's doing) and place him on the layers of newspaper at the door.

As you put him down to finish, call him "good dog".

Don't try to rush outside with him as you'll not make it in time and will confuse him.

5. If you are diligent and consistent with this, most puppies will start going to the paper within 2-4 days.

And that'll be your cue – it's why you placed the paper right in front of the door.

Whenever you see your pup going to the paper, take him out immediately.

Before long, he will connect the dots and know what it is you want him to do.
