Senate commences constitutional process for the establishment of state policing in the Country
The Senate has commenced the constitutional process for the establishment of state police as part of efforts to tackle rising insecurity across the country.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Yemi Adaramodu, said lawmakers are ready to fast-track the necessary legislation to support President Bola Tinubu’s security agenda and strengthen the nation’s security architecture.

The move follows renewed concerns over banditry and kidnappings, including the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, which has intensified calls for decentralised policing.
