We're thrilled to share the success of our recent orphanage outreach at the Nasarawa Children's Home on August 28, 2025. This wasn't just a delivery of goods; it was a day dedicated to connection, interaction, and creating lasting memories.

Our SDGs Corps members truly embodied our mission, going beyond a simple visit to actively engage with the children. We were honored to be addressed by the Director of the home, who shared valuable insights. After a group photo with the generous donations, we began the main event.

We spent time in the women and infants' sections, sharing gifts and smiles. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the games we played with the older children and adolescents. From jumping and racing to football and the "do-like-this" exercise, the air was filled with laughter and joy. The children’s excitement was palpable as they won goodies for their fantastic performance.

The day ended on a truly heartwarming note, with the children joining us to chorus a message of thanks to all our supporters and donors. Your contributions made this day possible.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported us. Your generosity is directly making a difference in the lives of these incredible children.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗖𝗗𝗦 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴!

Our meeting on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, marked an unprecedented turnout as we strengthened our resolve and expanded our reach to a record number of LGAs, including Gwale, Nasarawa (NSR), Dala, Kumbotso, KMC, Ungogo, Fagge, and Kibiya.

We had a productive session focusing on:
• 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: We solidified plans for our upcoming Career Seminar in October and our Rural Women Outreach in November, calling for volunteers to make a lasting impact.

• 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵: We are excited to keep the proposal for the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11th alive, even with a low-budget approach, emphasizing the importance of this cause.

• 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: Recognition was given to our capacitated Kibiya Coordinator and a new corper whose research on the SDGs was highly applauded.

• 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The key message remains: "Me and You are the SDGs." We encouraged all members to initiate personal projects to collectively amplify the SDGs' mission.

A special note of thanks to all the new participants. We're on track for an impactful final quarter of the year, culminating in a well-deserved Picnic/Award Ceremony in December to recognize outstanding contributions🎉

Honouring a Trailblazer in Sustainable Development—Michael Ogbonna Chidubem

We are proud to celebrate Michael Ogbonna Chidubem, a visionary leader and passionate advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), who was recently honoured with the prestigious Presidential NYSC Honours Award for his outstanding service to his host community during his service year in Kano State. The award ceremony took place last week Tuesday in Abuja.

As the Kano State President of the NYSC SDGs-CDS Group in 2023/2024, Michael exemplified extraordinary leadership and commitment to advancing key goals, including Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), among others—promoting impactful partnerships in line with SDG 17.

His unwavering passion and strategic leadership empowered communities to value education, prioritize health and well-being, and embrace sustainability. Under his stewardship, the CDS group underwent transformative reform: attracting increased corps member participation, establishing structured leadership in areas previously without SDGs-CDS representation, and introducing innovative practices that significantly strengthened the group’s impact and visibility.

Michael’s legacy is one of action, influence, and inspiration—creating a ripple effect of positive change that will continue to shape communities and the NYSC SDGs platform for years to come.

📈𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱: 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗡𝗬𝗦𝗖 𝗦𝗗𝗚𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽

The Kano NYSC SDGs CDS Group concluded a successful strategic meeting on 31st July, 2025 where we outlined our priorities and welcomed new talent to our team.

The session was crucial for setting the direction for our upcoming projects and fostering a collaborative environment.

Our leadership shared an update on our progress and formally announced our focus on four critical Sustainable Development Goals to drive meaningful change:
• 𝗦𝗗𝗚 4: Quality Education
• 𝗦𝗗𝗚 5: Gender Equality
• 𝗦𝗗𝗚 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
• 𝗦𝗗𝗚 17: Partnerships for the Goals

This strategic selection will guide our projects and interventions.

To enhance participation and accessibility, we're planning to implement a new hybrid meeting model: an online webinar on the first Thursday of each month and an in-person meeting on the last Thursday.

Members were encouraged to participate actively in their CDS groups especially due to the global recognition of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which makes our certificates and recommendation letters acceptable as proof of community service and social impact.

Ecouragement on conducting CDS personal projects was given, in light of key benefits such as awards, recognition, scholarships and job opportunities as accorded a recent crop of NYSC Awardee by the Tinubu administration. Deliberations were the made on potential projects to execute, organisations to partner with and lots more!

We look forward to executing these plans and achieving our shared objectives with our dedicated members.

We are delighted to recognize Ayomide Shobayo, a dedicated advocate of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Community Development service (CDS) group Kano State, who made a profound impact in Kano State, Nigeria, posted to Kibya Local Government Area in 2023, During his service year Ayomide demonstrated unwavering commitment to empowering the younger generation through his tireless efforts in promoting Quality Education (SDG 4) and Gender Equality (SDG 5).

Through his visionary leadership, Ayomide has successfully engaged stakeholders and like-minded individuals, inspiring them to invest their time, resources, and expertise in this noble mission. His selfless dedication has not only transformed the lives of countless young people but has also left an indelible mark on the community.
