WhatsApp is testing a new feature in its Android beta version (2.25.2.5) that lets users add music to status updates, similar to Instagram's music stories.

A new music icon in the status section allows users to search for songs, pick a 15-second clip for photo statuses, or match the music duration to video statuses. The feature is powered by a Meta and Universal Music Group partnership, offering access to a vast music library.

Viewers can even tap the song to visit the artist’s Instagram profile. Alongside this, WhatsApp has introduced tools like camera effects, selfie stickers, and quick reactions to enhance user interaction.

The feature is expected to roll out for all users soon after testing.
