We are pleased to announce the 2022 maiden edition of the annual UNILAG Design Competition. This competition is open to both conceptual proposals, as well as realized projects by young designers, entrepreneurs and tech professionals in the university community. The goal of the competition is to identify promising projects, start-ups and ideas that offer innovative solutions to problems peculiar to our environment.

Kindly complete and submit the the form from the provided link to apply. You will be required to make a ~3 minutes short video demonstration of your prototype and provide an access link in this form before final submission.

ELIGIBILITY:
- Undergraduate or postgraduate student of University of Lagos
- Individual or a team of 2-5 maximum members
- A working design prototype

Paid Internship Opportunity: Rice 360 Summer Internship @ UNILAG Design Studio ‘2021

This is for you if you have one or more of the following skillsets:

TECHNICAL:
Healthcare Innovation Experience, Circuit Design & Programming (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC Microcontrollers), Software Development, Rapid Prototyping with 3D Printer & Laser Cutter, Computer-Aided Design & Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Mechanical Fabrication, Machine Learning & Data Science, Project Management etc.

PERSONAL:
Good Interpersonal relationship, problem solving mindset, creative acumen, a critical thinker, an excellent collaborator, a team-player, a decision maker, an individual with attention to detail, innate flair for technology, flexible and patient.

Purpose of Internship:
The internship is focused on mobilizing teams to work toward impact in global health through collaborative and team-based projects. Interns in collaboration with mentors, representing diverse range of global health expertise will utilize the engineering design process to explore healthcare solutions. Following recommended safety protocols, interns will be hosted at the Design Studio of the University of Lagos. The responsibilities of successful applicants will include:

• Collaborating with team-mates and mentors on design evaluation for at least, assigned global health technology
• Engaging with stakeholders from a diverse range of global health expertise, communicating with partners, peers, mentors in a proactive and timely manner
• Brainstorming and ideation for global health technologies
• Prototyping and testing global health technologies

Other duties may be assigned as the needs arise.

We encourage self-motivated students with the required skillset and interest in healthcare innovation to apply. The program will provide an opportunity for students to substantively contribute to and learn from the Design Studio. As an intern, you will be given specific tasks and responsibilities and will be challenged to develop your capabilities and gain hands-on experience. In addition, you will be expected to be flexible and to take part in various activities at the studio and sometimes in the field.

Eligibility:
This opportunity is open to every student of the University of Lagos. However, applications from good standing undergraduate or postgraduate students in the following faculties of the university will have advantage:
• Engineering
• Sciences or
• Medical sciences.

NB: We are looking for interns who are committed, hard-working, positive, open-minded, reflective and willing to learn. Our selection process will seek to find a balance in gender and inter-faculty representation.

Time & Duration Commitment:
The internship program shall run for a minimum of six (6) weeks just after the 2020/2021 second semester.

Benefits & Conditions:
Upon satisfactory participation as defined by the studio management, interns will be entitled to a financial support in form of stipend for the duration of the internship.

4. A single page document containing an identified problem in the healthcare sector with a proposed solution approach.
[ Hint: You may interact with healthcare workers in your circle to know of issues they face and how innovation can offer a solution. This a chance to showcase why you are an ideal applicant]

5. A headshot/Personal Photograph
