At CES 2026, Amazon showcased its growing AI ambitions with Bee, a wearable AI device it recently acquired. Unlike Alexa, which mainly operates inside the home, Bee is designed to work outside the home as a clip-on pin or bracelet. Bee records conversations (like meetings, classes, or interviews), summarizes them, and acts as an AI companion that learns about users through recordings and connected services such as Gmail, Google Calendar, contacts, and Apple Health.
Amazon sees Bee as complementary to Alexa, not a replacement. While Alexa understands users’ home environments, Bee focuses on daily life, patterns, and personal insights throughout the day. Over time, Amazon plans for both AI experiences to come together. Bee is already being used by students, elderly users, and professionals who speak frequently and want automatic summaries. Although still early, Amazon believes Bee offers a deeply personal AI experience with strong long-term potential.
