I was heading to a dump site a few miles from my residence to dispose of dirt. While going, I passed through an open compound that links my street to the next street where the dump site is.
Then I saw this plant.
It was carefully planted and guided with blocks, quietly growing on the bare ground.
I paused and snapped it.
As a lover of natural things, each time I see plants, I feel joy as if I found gold.
And in truth, this plant is pure gold for those who understand it.
It is called Purslane.
Botanical name Portulaca oleracea.
A natural Omega 3 plant.
Many people walk past it daily.
Some uproot it thinking it is just a w**d. Others clear it away without knowing they are removing medicine from their soil.
Purslane is one of the richest plant sources of Omega 3 fatty acids.
The same Omega 3 people buy in expensive capsules is growing freely on the ground.
It supports heart health.
It helps reduce inflammation.
It supports brain function.
It helps regulate blood pressure.
It nourishes the body with antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E.
It is also edible.
You can wash the leaves and stems thoroughly and add them to salads. You can steam it lightly like vegetables.
Some people cook it with soups or sauce. It has a slightly tangy taste and blends well with other greens.
Nature has always provided healing close to us. We just became too busy to notice.

Last week, I watched a funny moment between a mother and her daughter.
Her daughter gets angry anytime she sees her walking barefoot around the house.
She will say, “Mummy, why can’t you just wear slippers like normal people?” while laughing and dragging her inside.
But the mother only smiles.
Because she enjoys the feeling of her feet touching the ground.
To her, it feels free. Calm. Natural.
If you think back well, you know that feeling too.
Before tiles. Before concrete. Before everywhere became fully built.
Remember when you were small and stepped outside with no shoes.
Playing on sand. Running on grass. Feeling nothing but the earth under your feet.
You did not know the science then.
You just knew it felt good.
That feeling was your body connecting with the earth.
It is called Grounding, also known as Earthing.
It simply means placing your bare feet on sand, soil, or grass to reconnect your body with nature.
This simple natural habit supports healthy aging and overall wellness.
Grounding helps reduce stress and calm the mind.
It may improve sleep quality.
It supports better blood circulation.
It can reduce body pain.
It helps you feel relaxed emotionally.
Sometimes your body is not tired.

When people hear the word stroke, many still think it is a sickness for old people. That belief is no longer true, and it is one of the reasons stroke is affecting more lives today.
There are mainly three types of stroke. The first is ischemic stroke. This happens when a blood clot blocks blood from reaching the brain. It is the most common type. The second is hemorrhagic stroke. This happens when a blood vessel in the brain bursts and causes bleeding. The third is transient ischemic attack, often called a mini stroke. The symptoms may disappear, but it is a serious warning that a major stroke can happen.
Now here is why stroke is no longer an old people’s disease.
Younger people are living with high stress, poor sleep, unhealthy food, smoking, alcohol, and untreated high blood pressure. Long hours of sitting, emotional pressure, and ignoring warning signs are damaging the body earlier than before. The brain does not know your age. It only responds to how you treat your body.
Hospitals are now seeing people in their thirties and forties with stroke symptoms. Many of them believed they were too young for it to happen.
This is why awareness matters. What you know today can protect you tomorrow.
