Ugume Umueri Okebo Born Divine Adili, a 21-year-old Nigerian basketball player, drowned during a team-building activity in the Philippines on June 8, 2026. Adili played as a foreign student-athlete for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP, standing approximately 6 feet 10 inches tall. His basketball career was marked by notable performances, including a crucial win against University of the East in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament.

Adili’s stats in the UAAP Season 88 showed promising potential, with averages of 8.4 points and 8.3 rebounds. His sudden death occurred alongside teammate Rene Baterbonia, a 19-year-old incoming freshman, during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora, Philippines.

The Philippine National Police has ruled out foul play in the deaths of Adili and Baterbonia. Adili’s family has requested an autopsy before his remains are repatriated to Nigeria, according to the Nigerian Embassy in Manila.
