𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙑𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙝𝙖'𝙗𝙖𝙣

What is Sha’ban?

Sha’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar, or Hijri Calendar, falling in between Rajab and Ramadan.

The importance of the month of Sha’ban has been strongly emphasized in the Sunnah as a warm-up to Ramadan, a time to prepare ourselves – mind, body and soul.

1. 𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙝🌹

The Messenger (ﷺ) taught us the following dua:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Allahumma innaka `Afuwwun TuHibbul `Afwa Fa`fu `Annii.

“’O Allah, you are the Forgiver, You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

2. 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙪𝙖 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙛🌹

Acknowledging Allah as The Provider and The Most Merciful, we turn to him to ask for an increase in our livelihood and relief from our troubles. The below dua includes all of this and more:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاجْبُرْنِي وَاهْدِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي

Allaahumma ighfirlee, war-Hamnee, wahdinee, wa ‘Aafinee, warzuqnee

“O, Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, help me, guide me, and grant me sustenance.”

3.𝙬𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙟𝙟𝙪𝙙🌹

Sha’ban is an excellent time to get into the habit of waking up during the last third of the night to offer nafl prayers. Nothing matches the tranquillity of Tahajjud and the closeness to Allah we feel while the rest of the world sleeps.

4. 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙝𝙖’𝙗𝙖𝙣: 🌹

𝘼𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙝 (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “The Messenger (ﷺ) used to fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allah fast
