Harvard University is planning to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into its coding class, known as CS50, to enhance the learning experience. The university will introduce a "CS50 bot," similar to ChatGPT, which will assist both professors and students by answering common questions and providing feedback on code design and errors. The aim is to approximate a 1:1 teacher-student ratio for every student by utilizing AI tools that can support their learning at any time and adapt to their individual preferences. The CS50 bot will prioritize developing problem-solving skills rather than simply giving solutions. Harvard's decision to adopt AI in education follows the establishment of an AI policy earlier this year.
