: THE "PRECIOUS MOMENTS (P.M)" SERIES
Finally I have a series featuring my wife's name πππΊ
And I hope you are not thinking her name is moments? ππ
Just like I see my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversaries as precious moments, you also have some cherished moments at certain times, and they sometimes require certain ambience.
Allow me share some insights throughout October on how you can create the right ambience for precious moments in your space, so you can make them much more delightful and memorable.
Sounds interesting right?
: THE "IF ONLY YOU KNEW...." SERIES
I am for the school of thought that says "knowledge breeds trust".
The more right knowledge you have about a person, product, service or brand, the higher the level of trust you have for them.
So my posts in November will feature details from fact checks I have ran on products and services offered by Consult Kenny and other reputable brands you really need to know more about.
Please be on the lookout.
: THE "WHAT'S UP" SERIES
If you have followed Consult Kenny Posts long enough, you would realize December is that period I reflect on how far I have come with my deliverables for the year, right before I delve into my aspirations for the upcoming year.
I will be sticking to the same trend in my final series for 2024, except that this time in a "what's up?" mood, which implies I will be doing this in response to questions from you, my amiable audience π
So I indulge you to dig into my series in 2024, especially from the 1st-quarter and hold me accountable on any deliverable that is yet to be attained by Consult Kenny.

THE "LIFE OF A PROJECT MANAGER" SERIES 2: DUE DILIGENCE!!!
Happy weekend peeps
I guess the month is coming on well for you.
May is all about The "Life Of A Project Manager", a series where I reflect on my experience as a project manager, highlighting real life situations that will enlighten my audience about the intricacies of project management.
As mentioned in the introductory post, I will be approaching this series from multiple angles and the focus today is on GLITCHES.
With over a decade of experience managing projects, I have come across a couple of glitches and I realise that most (if not all) are as a result of failure to observe due diligence.
Majority of my works feature on construction sites and existing buildings, and as a project manager I am expected to liaise with engineers, facility managers and other stakeholders who are to provide necessary guidelines for project activities, however there are times when we get so familiar with the terrain, and as such step out of caution in some occasion.
Allow me share some of such instances in retrospect ππΌ
#1: THE TRIGGER
Location: Landmark Towers, Lagos.
I remember it was a Monday morning on the 8th floor at the Landmark Towers, where I and my team had been scheduled for some preliminary work ahead of a facelift.
The facility team had done a great job with the necessary paperworks and orientation required for work permit.
β
No sound disruptions beyond 70 decibels
β
Safety kits must be worn at all times
β
Smoke and dust should not be raised without notifying the facility team
But the question is how much smoke or dust constitutes a threat?π€
βοΈ Everything was good until the plumber on my team activated his soldering iron and the rest is history π
Fire alarm system triggered, the occupants in the entire building (over a 100 people) evacuated and of course yours sincerely was fined and penalized π
N:B- my heart goes out to the Landmark team on the recent demolition of the beach front. Better days ahead guysπ
#2: THE BURST
Location: H.E.P, Cairo
Just before you tag me defiant, Kenny is not at fault on this one π
Unlike the trigger, the task in this case was to drill the floor for some hardware installation.
β
Beware of under ground pipes
β
Installation screws and pegs should not exceed 10cm-12cm into the floor
β
Contact MEP team to shut down water supply valves in the case of a burst
Meanwhile ππΌ
βοΈ The under ground pipes were installed at exactly 10cm into the floor πββοΈ
βοΈ The MEP team reps were an hour away from the site π€Έ
Just so you know, there was a burst and the installation ended up becoming a pool party on site π€£
Please blame it on the MEP team.
#3: THE FALL
If you are expecting a story of how I or someone on my team fell off while working at height, you are absolutely wrong π€£
I mean I could go on and on with glitchy scenarios, but I would rather use the last slide on this post as an avenue to reiterate the need to enforce safety measures on project sites.
Below are basic safety kits you will never go wrong with ππΌ
β
Protective clothing
β
Safety Shoes
β
Helmet
β
Safety gloves
β
Safety Harness
β
Safety Glasses/Goggles

* "LIFE-AFTER-DEATH (L.A.D)" SERIES 2
*RENEW AND RECYCLE*
Hi Guys,
Trust you are having a lovely weekend, and I guess September is turning out right.
Having introduced a new series in my last post, I will be taking it further, confident you will be gaining some insights on the subject matter that seek to help you discover means by which you can revive furniture pieces and other items in your space, after their expected lifespan.
The "Life-After-Death" (L.A.D) series offers several value including guidelines that will help your decision on what items to let go or which one to hold back in your space.
Just before I delve into the business of the day, here is a recap of the bottom lines I shared in my last post.
- RENEWABILITY
- ECONOMICS
- FEELINGS
With focus on Renewal, I will be making a case for 3 materials that top the list when it comes to renewabilityππΌ
* #1: RUBBER*
It is proven that used tyres, leathers and films have bendable properties that makes them largely suitable for recycling.
This claim is seen to be true with the show of creativity displayed with the lovely furniture pieces made out of used tyres as seen in this picture.
There are other materials in this category used by artists for art pieces and other objects, hence portraying beauty of all kinds.
So just before you trash those worn out tyres in your garage, it would be a great idea to consider reusing some for outdoor sitting or a meeting table for your home office.
* #2: WOOD*
Of course wood is a go to material when it comes to renewability.
With a bit of touching up, sanding, and adding new colors, a piece of abandoned woodwork will take up a new life, offering you a whole new product or object that allows the material to live as long as possible, regardless of the original intent.
In the words of Daniel Svahn, who specializes in turning waste furniture into new furniture; "It is not only about how we make things but also what happens to them at the end of their lives. Even if waste and the reuse and upcycling of it becomes the new method of production, we still need to rethink our consumerist βwear and tearβ ways and create things we really need and that will last for a really long time. Longevity is key".
I hope you get the point.
* #3: BOTTLES*
Thinking crafts or lights?
Then opt for waste bottles, you have them in different sizes, shapes and colors.
In creating lovely art pieces that can double as ornaments alongside your furniture pieces, plastic bottle is the best option to get a hold of.
While bottles made from glass is perfect for any craft that's meant for illumination or reflection, due to the see through properties found in glass.
Having touched on renewability, it's however important to note it's not all renewable products or materials that are easy to process. There are materials even in rubber, wood and glass that are referred to as "the problem articles", such as laminated pieces and obsolete furniture typologies.
I hereby recommend you consult an expert on renewable resources in order to avoid complexities on the subject matter.
I definitely can be of help in leading you to one.
While you are at it, remember Consult Kenny is always available to guide you through matters relating to your space.

*THE 'QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK'SERIES.... PT. 3*
Hey folks,
Trust this post meets you well.
It's such a delight to be here again and I crave your indulgence as I wrap up the series for this month today.
So far I have been able to address generic questions about design trends, custom-made vs. ready-made furniture as well as what time is best to have a facelift, I have also had to answer an industry based question about client conversion. I guess my responses have been helpful.
As I run through the list of questions here, permit me to randomly select 3 questions, making up the last batch of questions on this series π:
*Q5: Is there a difference between an Interior designer and an interior decorator?*
Yes of course!
Though the difference is not yet known to many, I should say I'm quite fortunate to have realized the difference from the early days of my entry into the design industry.
And here is the difference;
Where an interior decorator simply work with spaces as they are, the job description of an interior designer delves further into remodelling and renovation of spaces.
Practically speaking, a decorator will head straight to conversation around your furniture pieces, color scheme etc, while a designer is sure to look closer to see how your space can be more functional before commencing the furniture and color scheme conversation.
*Q6: Leather or fabric, which is more cost effective?
This sounds like the typical 'Messi or Ronaldo?' question π
Truth be told, fabrics are "usually" more cost effective than leather, however this doesn't in any way imply placing fabric over leather.
From my experience with leather, you need high quality leather to achieve perfection with aesthetics and longevity, meanwhile that's not always the case with fabric.
In other words, the level of standard you would easily achieve with fabric will require a lot more investment if you opt for the same standard with leather.
I hope I'm clear.
*Q7: By what means can I become an Interior designer?*
A combination of EDUCATION and INTERNSHIP is the most effective means to becoming an interior designer.
Where education imply degrees and certifications that can be obtained from design institutes, Internship imply learning on the job through a form of attachment to an Interior design firm.
Both means require a level of commitment especially if you don't have a background in design and architecture.
With a bit of surfing on the internet you will find credible platforms where you can enrol for interior design courses (online, physical and hybrid), as well as firms with opening for internship program.
Having said this, below are a few I recommendπ
https://www.jsaid.com.ng
https://www.interiordezine.com
Also, be on the lookout for adverts from Feet and Inches for internship program soon, while you equally engage me on matters relating to your space.

*WELCOME TO 2023*
Happy New Year folks,
Trust 2023 is looking good for you, just as it is for me.
With no iota of doubt, I remain optimistic that 2023 will be your best year yet.
As I anticipate an unrelenting support from my awesome audience again this year, I assure you all that Consult Kenny has an interesting line up of series for you in 2023.
Starting with a preview of the series for the 1st-quarter of the year, let's delve into the business of the day π:
* : THE 'QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK' SERIES*
As Consult Kenny seeks to be more interactive in it's approach to helping you make the best of your spaces, many of the series lined up for 2023 will allow for questions and feedbacks that will be incorporated into my posts.
In this series, there will be questions on general knowledge as it relates to lifestyle (home makeover, design trends etc) on one hand, as well as questions about technical subjects as it relates to the design industry with design enthusiasts and budding designers in mind.
I hope to do justice all of the questions that will appear in my posts on this series.
* : THE 'CELEBRATION' SERIES*
February 2023 is all about Feet and Inches, as I join the celebration of the 10th year anniversary of the iconic establishment that birthed the brand Consult Kenny.
My posts on this series will primarily beam the spotlight on a campaign to be launched by Feet and Inches come February 2023.
Watch out!!!
* : THE 'TO- THE - RESCUE' SERIES*
In recent times, I have been exposed to superhero comic scenes on T.V (courtesy of my amazing kids), with heroic phrases like "save-the-day!!!", "to-the-rescue!!!" taking centre stage π¦Ύ.
This makes me feel like some superhero who needs to come to the rescue of those who are in dire need of intervention of an interior designer, in order to resolve the chaos in their spaces.
While I'm on the lookout for such folks (perhaps you are one of them), pls feel free to contact me for guidance on how to make the best of your spaces.
