Veteran Nollywood actor, Pat Okoye dies

The news broke in the early hours of Thursday that Patrick Okoye, the veteran Nollywood actor fondly known as “Energy,” has passed away.

He was not just a face on screen; he was also a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. There, he shaped young minds and trained the next generation of actors before stepping in front of the camera to remind everyone why they fell in love with Nollywood in the first place. He taught students days Before Passing: Nollywood Mourns Pat ‘Energy’ Okoye

Nigerians deserve an electoral umpire who, without bias or political affiliation, discharges his duties in a manner that sustains Nigeria’s democracy.

Anything short of strict neutrality in the conduct of elections weakens public trust in the democratic process. The integrity of the electoral body must remain beyond suspicion, because the credibility of leadership in a democracy is only as strong as the fairness of the process that produces it.

Does Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan fit in to this category?

Sen. Engr. Ken Eze Deserves Re-election

Sen. Engr. Kenneth Emeka Eze is quietly redefining what it means to represent the people of Ebonyi Central in the 10th National Assembly.

At a time when many citizens feel disconnected from governance, he has chosen a different path — one that brings leadership closer to the grassroots. From empowering youths and women with tools for self-reliance, to expanding access to education through scholarships and support for WAEC and JAMB candidates, his approach reflects a deep understanding of the real needs of his constituents.

Across communities, his impact is visible: boreholes providing clean water, solar lights improving security, classrooms enhancing learning, and medical outreaches bringing healthcare to the doorstep of the people. These are not abstract promises, they are tangible interventions touching lives daily.

Beyond constituency projects, his voice is active in the Senate, contributing to key national conversations and sponsoring people-oriented motions and bills. His role in shaping information and national orientation further positions him as a strategic player in governance.

What truly stands out is his people-first philosophy, a leadership style rooted in accessibility, responsiveness, and practical results.

Ebonyi Central is not just being represented; it is being felt, heard, and carried along.

This is the kind of leadership that inspires confidence: steady, visible, and impactful.

Premium Times actually reported this news, and honestly, it raises a serious question that many people are too afraid to ask out loud — have our media outlets become convenient tools in the hands of the ruling establishment?

At what point did journalism in Nigeria start to look like curated messaging instead of independent reporting? When a platform like Premium Times publishes certain narratives, it is no longer just about reporting facts — it becomes part of a larger system that many believe is increasingly influenced, directly or indirectly, by political interests.

Let’s be blunt: the idea that the media space is completely neutral is becoming harder to defend. The selective framing of issues, the repetition of certain narratives, and the silence on others all point to something deeper than coincidence.

A. Trekking from Ebonyi State on foot to Abuja to meet President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

B. Trekking from Benin to Abuja to greet our president for his good deed to mankind.

If not misplaced priority, then tell me what this should be described as. In a country where unemployment is in the hike, young people indulge in all kinds visionless adventures in a pursuit of visibility and monetary rewards.

I will continue to say, whoever that sets this precedent has done more harm than good.
