UNICEF Nigeria, in partnership with the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board and other development partners, has officially flagged off the distribution of 3,700 Mama Kits to pregnant women across 13 priority LGAs under the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation and Initiative (MAMII).
These kits which contain essential supplies for clean and safe childbirth are a lifeline for women in one of Nigeria’s hardest-hit regions for maternal and neonatal mortality.
As UNICEF’s Maiduguri Field Chief, Francis Busiku, emphasized: “No woman should die giving life. Every newborn deserves the chance to thrive.”
By mobilizing government agencies, traditional leaders, civil society, and partners to join the effort, Borno’s mothers and newborns are receiving an invaluable boost toward safer, healthier futures.
