BCRI WASH Awareness | Community Sanitation Drive: Building a Healthier, Resilient Borno

On December 6th, dedicated volunteers from the Borno Community Resilience Initiative (BCRI) united for a major community sanitation exercise. This hands-on effort is a crucial step in strengthening Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices across our communities.

A cleaner environment is more than just appearance—it’s a foundation for public health. It prevents disease, protects vital water sources, and builds stronger, healthier communities. This is especially critical in a state rebuilding from years of crisis.

Why WASH Matters:
• Prevents Disease:Proper sanitation drastically reduces the spread of infections.
• Protects the Vulnerable: Clean surroundings safeguard children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.
• Preserves Water: Safe waste disposal keeps our water sources healthy for generations.
• Builds Resilience:Hygiene awareness empowers communities to withstand health challenges.

Our Action on December 6th:
Working side-by-side, we:
• Cleared accumulated waste and unclogged drainage areas to prevent flooding and contamination.
• Conducted a hygiene sensitization session on SMK Radio, reaching residents across Borno with vital practices.
• Encouraged households to adopt and maintain regular sanitation routines.

This drive is one of many steps in our long-term commitment to a cleaner, safer, and more resilient Borno State.

Let’s keep the momentum going! A healthy community starts with each of us.

Call to Action:Join our next drive! Follow our page for updates on how you can volunteer.
