My two papaya trees are currently male and non-fruiting hence, I’m going to be experimenting with traditional methods to change their s*x. Today(Jan 5, 2026), I applied two different techniques:
Method 1: I made diagonal cuts through the trunk and inserted wooden sticks to create "stress." Pic.1
Method 2: I decapitated the top portion of the tree to force new growth. Pic 2
The hope is that these physiological shocks will encourage the trees to produce female or hermaphrodite flowers. I will share updates as the new growth appears.
The queen is the only reproductive female of the colony.Her entire life is spent laying eggs and maintaining hive cohesion.
These bulls are undergoing feedlotting.
