The Glow Up (Vocabulary Makeover)
Delete these 4 words from your CV immediately: "Responsible for," "Helped," and "Duties included." They are salary killers.
Passive language signals a passive employee. Active language signals a leader.
When I see "Responsible for project management," I see someone who was assigned a task.
When I see "Orchestrated end-to-end project delivery," I see someone who owned the outcome.
Stop using "Zombie Verbs" and start using Power Verbs.
1. Instead of "Helped" or "Assisted":
โข Collaborated (Implies partnership)
โข Facilitated (Implies making things easier)
โข Co-engineered (Implies technical contribution)
2. Instead of "Changed" or "Improved":
โข Overhauled (Implies a major fix)
โข Optimized (Implies efficiency)
โข Revitalized (Implies bringing something dead back to life)
3. Instead of "Managed" (The most overused word in history):
โข Directed
โข Guided
โข Spearheaded (Use this only for initiating new projects)
If you can put the phrase "I was forced to be..." in front of your bullet point and it still makes sense, rewrite it.
(e.g., "I was forced to be responsible for filing." -> Grammar works. Boring.)
(e.g., "I was forced to be Optimized workflow." -> Grammar breaks. Active verb!)

Stop writing a "bio" and start writing a "sales pitch." Your CV isn't an autobiography; it is a document of commercial value.
Here is the uncomfortable truth: I donโt care what you did. I care what you achieved.
If you are stuck in the "Applied > Rejected" loop, your CV likely suffers from "Duty Fatigue." You are listing responsibilities that anyone in your role would have.
Here are 3 specific psychological triggers to add to your CV immediately to stop the scroll:
1. The "So What?" Method
Read your bullet points. Now ask yourself: "So what?"
โข Weak: "Responsible for managing the sales team." (So what?)
โข Better: "Managed a team of 10 salespeople." (So what?)
โข Hired: "Led a team of 10 to generate $1.2M in revenue, exceeding Q4 targets by 15%."
2. The F-Pattern Layout
Eye-tracking studies show recruiters scan in an 'F' shape.
โข Put your Hard Skills and Job Titles on the left margin.
โข Do not bury your biggest win at the end of a paragraph. Front-load your bullets. The first 5 words determine if I read the rest of the sentence.
3. The Context Anchor
Numbers mean nothing without context.
โข Don't just say "Managed a budget."
โข Say "Managed a $50k monthly budget."
โข Don't just say "Reduced wait times."
โข Say "Reduced wait times by 20% within 3 months."
Recruiters buy results, not effort. Give them the ROI.

Stop Blaming the Technology.
Stop blaming the "ATS Robot" for your rejection email. The robot didn't reject you. I did.
There is a massive myth floating around LinkedIn that an "evil AI" scans your resume, looks for a missing keyword, and auto-deletes your application before a human eye ever sees it.
Here is the Recruiter Reality Check: 95% of the time, the ATS (Applicant Tracking System) is just a digital filing cabinet. It doesn't make decisions; it organizes data.
If you got rejected, a human recruiter likely looked at your CV. So, why did it feel instant?
Because we scan, we don't read.
If I open your CV and see:
A wall of dense text.
A generic "Objective" statement from 2005.
Zero quantifiable metrics in the top third of the page.
I am closing the tab in 4 seconds.
The Fix: Optimize for Human Readability, not just keyword stuffing.
Headlines: Use your job title as a headline, not just "Professional Summary."
White Space: If your CV looks like a novel, no one will read it. Use bullets.
Relevance: Don't list your high school lifeguarding gig if you're applying for a Director role.
Stop trying to beat the bot. Start trying to impress the human.
๐ True or False: You still believe the ATS is out to get you? Let's argue in the comments.

Mistakes that are killing your interview chances.
You are sabotaging your own expertise by using weak, passive vocabulary. The ATS is programmed to scan for impact and authority, yet most candidates write resumes that sound like a list of passive observations. You submit a CV full of "responsible for" and "helped." It sits in the digital trash bin. Meanwhile, a candidate with half your actual experience gets the call because they used "orchestrated" and "maximized." You aren't being rejected for lack of skill; you are being ignored for lack of linguistic strength.Stop using words that imply you just showed up. Swap them for these high-value keywords immediately:
STOP USING (Weak) START USING (ATS Gold) THE SIGNAL IT SENDS
Responsible for Spearheaded Shows initiative, not just obligation.
Helped Facilitated Shows leadership, not just assistance.
Worked on Executed Shows completion, not just effort.
Changed Revitalized Shows improvement, not just difference.
Managed Optimized Shows efficiency, not just maintenance.
Talked to Negotiated Shows commercial value, not just chatter.
Came up with Formulated Shows strategy, not just ideas.
The words you choose define the value you project. Weak words get ignored; strong words get interviews.

Mistakes that are killing your CV.
You spend hours tweaking the layout and obsessing over fonts, but your application gets rejected in six seconds flat. You aren't getting calls, and you don't know why.
A recruiter opens a PDF. They see a dense wall of text, generic buzzwords like "hardworking team player," and a laundry list of daily duties. They scan desperately for impact, find none, and move to the next candidate. The CV never stood a chance against the human eye or the automated system.
Here is the fix.
STOP doing this:
Listing daily responsibilities instead of achievements. Nobody cares what you were supposed to do; they care what you actually delivered.
Using fancy graphics, double columns, or headshots. They break ATS readers and annoy human ones.
Writing generic summaries full of fluff like "motivated self-starter seeking opportunity." It is noise.
START doing this:
Quantify your impact. Use numbers, dollars saved, percentages grown, and concrete results.
Use clean, standard formatting. Simple bullet points, clear headings, and standard fonts win every time.
Tailor your headline to match the exact language of the job description you are targeting.
Your CV is not a biography. It is evidence that you can solve a specific problem.
Stop guessing if your CV will pass the filters. Comment โRoast and Rewriteโ below to get a free ATS scan and find out exactly what needs fixing

Stop treating your CV like a Wikipedia page of your past duties.
Recruiters do not care what you were "responsible for." We already know what a Sales Manager does. We know what a Graphic Designer does.
We care about how YOU did it better than the other 200 people in my inbox.
It is time to kill the "Zombie Bullets" and replace them with "Power Impacts."
โ The Old Way (Boring/Passive):
โข "Responsible for managing a sales team."
โข "Tasked with organizing monthly events."
โข "Helped with customer support tickets."
โ
The New Way (Active/Data-Driven):
โข "Led a team of 12 to generate $2M in Q4 revenue, surpassing targets by 15%."
โข "Orchestrated 3 major industry conferences, attracting 500+ attendees per event."
โข "Resolved 40+ escalated client issues weekly, maintaining a 98% satisfaction rating."
The Rule: If you canโt measure it, you haven't framed it right.
Stop listing tasks. Start selling results.
Which "Zombie Bullet" are you guilty of using? Drop it in the comments and Iโll rewrite it for you. ๐

Mistakes that are killing your progress.
You are addicted to preparation. You believe that if you just read one more book, watch one more tutorial, or buy one more tool, you will finally be ready to start. You are lying to yourself.
Scenario:
It is Saturday. You have spent three hours "researching" and organizing your notion template. You feel productive because you are "working on the business." But if you look at your output, you haven't actually created a single tangible asset. You are busy, not effective.
Solution/Steps:
Stop preparing. Start shipping.
โข The 90/10 Rule: Spend 10% of your time learning and 90% doing.
โข Imperfect Action: Post the bad video. Write the clumsy article. Send the awkward DM.
โข Kill the Research: If you aren't using the information immediately, don't consume it.

Businesses are obsessed with "๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐" but often forget to actually sell to them. They mistake vanity metrics for genuine progress.
A company posts trendy content daily. The posts get thousands of likes and comments. The marketing department reports massive "engagement growth." Yet, the sales team has empty calendars and revenue remains flat. The applause isn't converting into currency.
Stop optimizing for attention. Start optimizing for action. Define one clear conversion goal for your campaignโan email capture, a demo booking, or a direct sale. Ensure every piece of content provides value and ends with a clear, logical path to that specific goal. Ignore the follower count and obsess over the click-through rate to your offer.
