PDP RAISES ALARM OVER ONDO’S ‘FIRST EXCO MEETING,’ DESCRIBES GOVT AS SLOW AND REACTIVE

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has carefully reviewed the recent pronouncements by the Aiyedatiwa administration following its Executive Council meeting, and we find it necessary to once again separate governance from what increasingly appears to be a ritual of empty declarations.

At the heart of our concern is the startling revelation that this is the first Executive Council meeting of the year. In a state confronted by economic strain, infrastructural decay and growing security threats, such a delayed convening of the highest decision making body of government is not just irregular, it is symptomatic of a deeper culture of inertia. A government that takes months to assemble itself for deliberation cannot convincingly claim urgency in addressing the pressing needs of its people. This abnormality better explains the slow, reactive and ultimately retrogressive governance trajectory Ondo State has been subjected to.

Let it be clearly stated that the PDP is not opposed to the construction of new hospitals. Expanding healthcare infrastructure is, in principle, a welcome development. However, it becomes a questionable priority when existing government hospitals across the state remain in poor condition, grossly understaffed and struggling with inadequate equipment. The logic of building new structures while old ones are left to deteriorate is difficult to defend. Healthcare delivery is not merely about erecting new buildings; it is about strengthening the entire system, from personnel to equipment to maintenance. Without this, new projects risk becoming mere monuments rather than functional institutions.

While the administration now speaks of approvals for hospital constructions, the people of Ondo expected far more proactive engagement on issues that are immediate and existential, particularly security. Communities across the state continue to grapple with fear, uncertainty and unresolved breaches, yet what is presented is a catalogue of approvals rather than a coherent, actionable security framework. Governance must be rooted in priorities, and at this critical moment, the safety of lives and property ought to command more than passing references in post meeting briefings.

Equally troubling is the complete absence of transparency in the details provided. Beyond the headline figure of “500 beds,” where are the cost implications, the budgetary allocations, the contractors, the timelines and the funding structure for these projects? Governance is not conducted in abstracts. The people deserve more than aggregated figures and vague projections. The continued refusal to provide verifiable data only reinforces a growing public perception that transparency and accountability have effectively been expunged from the operations of the Ondo State Government.

For a state that has repeatedly witnessed the cycle of announcements without commensurate delivery, skepticism is not only expected, it is justified. Ondo people are no longer persuaded by promises; they demand proof, process and performance.

The PDP therefore urges the Aiyedatiwa administration to abandon this culture of delayed governance and opaque communication. What the state needs at this time is urgency, clarity and measurable action, not another round of declarations that may ultimately dissolve into the familiar pattern of unfulfilled commitments.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP), ONDO STATE CHAPTER TO BARR. KINGSLEY KUKU ON MOM'S DEATH

The Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku (née Gbamila), the beloved mother of our esteemed party leader and former Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Barr. Kingsley Kuku.

Mama Kuku lived a long and impactful life marked by faith, compassion, and service to humanity. Her unwavering commitment to family values, community development, and the moral upbringing of her children remains an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

The Party commiserates with Barr. Kingsley Kuku and the entire Kuku family of Arogbo Kingdom over this irreparable loss. While her passing at the age of 90 is a reminder of a fulfilled and graceful life, we understand that the pain of losing a mother is deeply felt, no matter the age.

We urge the family to take solace in the knowledge that Mama Kuku’s life was one of virtue, faith, and love, a true example of a matriarch who nurtured leaders and touched many lives through her kindness and strength.

On behalf of the State Chairman, Barr. Dupe Aisida, the State Working Committee, leaders, and members of the Ondo PDP, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Barr. Kingsley Kuku and pray that Almighty God grants the family the fortitude to bear this great loss and repose Mama’s gentle soul in perfect peace.

PRESS RELEASE

ONDO PDP DISMISSES FALSE CLAIMS, SAYS STATE CONGRESS REFLECTED PARTY UNITY

Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous press release issued by a self-styled group within our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, under the name Kick Against Deceit. The statement, which purportedly condemned the just concluded PDP State Congress, is not only baseless and misleading but also a deliberate attempt to discredit one of the most transparent, participatory, and unifying exercises in the recent history of our Party in the State.

Contrary to the falsehoods peddled by the group, the State Congress was conducted in full compliance with the Constitution of our Party and the guidelines approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) as observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Delegates were duly accredited, the process was peaceful, and the outcomes reflected the collective will of genuine party stakeholders across all local governments and senatorial districts.

It is important to clarify that many of the individuals whose names appeared as signatories to the said release have since publicly dissociated themselves from it. Specifically, Charles Adeduro, Caroline Olupitan, Pat Ojo, Dagbatan Anjorin Peter, among others, have categorically denied ever authorizing their inclusion or participation in the concocted statement. This further exposes the deceitful nature of the release and the desperation of those behind it to create a false impression of internal division where none exists.

The truth is simple and undeniable. The Ondo PDP has, for the first time in a long while, demonstrated unity of purpose and readiness to reclaim power through democratic engagement, internal cohesion, and transparent leadership recruitment. The State Congress was not only free and fair but was widely adjudged credible by observers, party elders, and the NWC representatives who supervised the process.

Those behind this baseless publication are well known as individuals who have consistently resisted every reform that seeks to reposition the Party for victory. Their discomfort stems not from the process itself but from the fact that the era of imposition, manipulation, and backroom politics is over. They now find themselves outside the circle of relevance created by merit and popular choice.

The PDP in Ondo State remains focused on rebuilding trust, strengthening grassroots structures, and presenting a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections. No amount of blackmail, sponsored propaganda, or internal sabotage will derail this collective resolve.

We therefore urge our teeming members and supporters across the 18 local government areas to disregard the said publication and remain steadfast in their commitment to the Party’s renewed vision under the leadership of the newly elected State Executive Committee.

The 2025 State Congress has come and gone, and history will record it as a turning point, the moment when the PDP in Ondo State rose above petty interests to chart a new course toward victory. Those who choose to remain prisoners of the past will only watch as the Party marches forward, stronger and more united than ever.

Director of Media and Public Communication,
