TRUE LIFE STORY: A Costly Mistake
A young lady walked into the pharmacy complaining of persistent fever and serious body weakness. She had already taken P-Alaxin for malaria… but when she didn’t feel better after 2 days, someone advised her to “add” Ciprotab.
Three days later, she returned—this time with severe weakness, palpitations, and dizziness.
👉 The problem wasn’t just the illness…
👉 It was the combination of drugs.
đź’Š WHAT YOU MUST KNOW
P-Alaxin (Dihydroartemisinin + Piperaquine)
– Used for malaria
– Can affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation)
Ciprotab (Ciprofloxacin)
– Antibiotic for bacterial infections
– ALSO has potential to affect heart rhythm
⚠️ WHY THIS COMBINATION IS RISKY
Taking both together can:
- Increase risk of dangerous heart rhythm problems
- Cause palpitations, fainting, or even sudden collapse
- Mask the real illness if diagnosis is wrong
⸻
COMMON MISTAKE👇
“Fever = Malaria + Typhoid, so take both drugs together” ❌
👉 This assumption is dangerous and outdated
⸻
âś… WHAT TO DO INSTEAD
👉Test before treatment (Malaria test, Widal, or culture)
👉Use only the prescribed medication
👉Avoid mixing drugs without professional guidance
My kind advice:
Not all drugs are “safe to combine” just because they treat similar symptoms.
Some combinations can harm more than the disease itself.
👉Don’t treat based on guesswork. Treat based on evidence.
👉 Your heart is too important for trial and error.
