COME!!!
Have you noticed that the word come sounds simple yet never simple?
Let me show you something: If a mad man asks you to come, how would you feel?
If you are an adult and a child asks you to come, what runs on your mind?
If a stranger comes out of a lonely bush and asks you to come, what would you think?
You can go on and multiply these questions.
Look at my point: Come or coming is never as easy as you thought earlier. It carries a heavy sense of both command and responsibility. It carries command from the side of the caller and responsibility on the part of the called. It is work. When love, respect and truth is lacking, command is rarely obeyed. When ulterior motive, ruddnes and the likes abound, sense of responsibility remains an illusion.
Here in the Gospel, Jesus says ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who believes in me will never thirst. (Jn 6:35. Reading Jn 6: 35-46).
Jesus Christ is the bread of life. He gives the bread indeed, but he doesn't bring it to your standpoint. He gives by extending his hand. You must relocate yourself and "come" and then receive it.
He wants you to take the responsibility. The "come" exposes the choice of the receiver. It also describes how the "comer" values the "caller."
Trust Jesus and come to him for life. Leave behind your engagements and come. Review your choices and come. Come, Jesus gives eternal life. And only him does. By the way, you cannot afford not to make heaven.
Is it that Jesus does not worth calling you or that you are not responsible enough to honour his invitation?
