Still in the spirit of International Day of the African Child Amaclare Connect & Dev Initiative in collaboration with Ese Usamali Foundation For Rural Development and other partners had an engagement with 3 private primary schools in Port Harcourt to commomerate the day.

The pupils were given a topic to prepare for "My Water, My School" and we were thrilled with their different stories of encounter with access to safe water in their schools and environment.

It was not surprising that these children were able to capture the essence of water, it's characteristics and lack of safe water in the Niger Delta where all our water table has been polluted by long lasting oil exploration activities.

Thank you seriously to these young minds for that wonderful presentation

Do we know about World Oceans Day that is observed every year on June 8.

So may of us do not know. So let's take a while to read and understand. It was officially recognized by the United Nations in 2008 and has been celebrated annually since 2009 to raise awareness about the importance of oceans and the need to protect marine ecosystems.

Amaclare Connect & Dev Initiative (ACDI) joins the global advocates to mark the day that has the theme "Reimagine: Beyond the World We know, a New Relationship With our Ocean." This theme serves as a call to action to shift from being passive inheritors of the ocean’s resources to becoming active, responsible guardians of its future.

Alongside the core annual theme, the ongoing conservation action theme set by the World Ocean Day network is "Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet." This action-oriented focus supports the global "30x30" goal, which targets protecting and conserving at least 30% of the world's oceans and lands by the year 2030.

Why World Oceans Day Matters
Oceans cover over 70% of the Earth's surface.
💦 They produce much of the oxygen we breathe.
💦 They help regulate the global climate.
💦 They support marine biodiversity and provide livelihoods for billions of people.

I trust we all understand that Oceans, Seas, Rivers and Streams are all part of our ecosystem and Environment. Let's preserve them. Our Environment, Our Responsibility, Our Future
