Even after they cut out his tongue, he continued to speak clearly!

Romanus of Caesarea was a Christian deacon during the fierce persecutions under the Roman emperor Diocletian in the early 4th century.

When pagan officials ordered the people of Caesarea to offer sacrifices to the Roman gods, Romanus publicly rebuked them. He boldly declared that Christ alone is the true God, and urged the Christians present not to deny their faith.

The governor was enraged.

Romanus was seized and subjected to brutal torture. His body was scourged and torn, yet he refused to renounce Christ. In an attempt to silence him, the authorities cut out his tongue.

But according to early Christian accounts, even after this mutilation he continued to speak clearly, praising Christ and encouraging the believers who watched.

Unable to break him, the persecutors finally ordered his death. Romanus was strangled in prison, sealing his testimony with his blood during the persecution that swept across the Roman Empire.

THE MIRACLE IN THE DEBACLE!

The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters. (Psalm 24:1-2, NKJV)

This passage clearly presents one of the finest demonstrations of God’s incontestable might in creation.

Nothing stands firm on the seas and oceans—all things can either swim in or float on water at best—but surely, nothing holds steady as far as the floods go.

Water is the most unstable foundation to build anything on. No one builds on water, but, God does, and He did. Because He could. And the earth has stood for multiplied millennia —held steady by the supreme engineering of the word of His power.

Even the most sophisticated and advanced building technology that has been utilised by man in the construction of bridges, artificial islands, tunnels etc. on, in, and through water has found a way to anchor to earth. And these are still vulnerable to nature’s tantrums in the forms of earthquakes, tsunamis and high-category storms.

God did not only found the earth upon the most unstable foundation of water, He did establish the earth on floods and has faithfully kept it from nature’s quick temper by the mighty word of His command.
