I wear more makeup now than I ever did in my twenties or thirties. Back then, I skipped foundation completely (there was no need for it) and only wore a little blush, mascara and a bright red lipstick. These days I wear a light layer of foundation, almost always a touch of concealer around my nose or on any redness. My skin is definitely a little redder now than it was when I was younger. I still never skip blush, and I love pairing it with a touch of bronzer, especially now that I wear SPF 30 every single day. My skin has genuinely improved since I started doing that, but it also means I don’t tan as easily anymore. Bronzer brings back that healthy warmth, and together with blush it creates such a fresh, natural glow.

Since creating my own brush set, I’ve also started wearing a soft wash of eyeshadow. It brightens my eyes just enough without looking like I’m wearing much at all. I curl my lashes and add one or two coats of mascara most days. My brows are nano brows, but I always finish them with a clear brow gel to keep everything in place.

In summer, I love adding a few extra freckles with a freckle pen. And when it comes to lips, I like a lip liner that’s just one shade deeper than my lipstick. I gently blend the two together with my fingertips. It’s one of those little tricks that makes everything look softer and more natural.

If I’m heading out, I’ll sometimes dust on the tiniest bit of setting powder so everything stays in place a little longer.

When I’m finished, I still want my makeup to look like... me. Just a fresher version. That’s always the goal.

I enjoy wearing makeup because it makes me feel a little more polished, a little more put together and, yes, a little prettier too.

That doesn’t mean I don’t happily leave the house without it. I do, all the time. I’m not insecure without makeup, quite the opposite. I feel perfectly comfortable in my own skin. Makeup simply gives me that little extra boost, and I wear it because I enjoy it.
