We are officially looking for new board members for next year’s iteration of CUT!CUT is AUC’s film committee, dedicated to celebrating and creating cinema. We organize film screenings, produce short films, and host a variety of creative events, including exhibitions, film festivals, and hands-on workshops.

We are looking for committed, creative, and reliable students to join our board. If you love film and want to help shape CUT’s projects and direction, we would love to hear from you.

Cut presents its first ever speed dating and screening event (both for making friends and finding romance)! Cut will offer a cozy environment, snacks and music, aswell as some film related questions to get your conversations flowing! After the speed dating we will end off the night with a screening of Notting Hill (1999), you can also join for each separately.

How will it work? Each round you will be assigned a partner, and you will talk for 3-5 minutes. The goal is to bond and to make new friends! However, if anyone particularly sparked you interest, after all the Rounds have passed, you will fill out a piece of paper, with the Letterboxd name(s) of the person that you bonded with the most and wish to potentially get to know better. If two people wrote each other down we will tell them that they have found a match!

Hello dear film lovers!

🎬CUT 🎞️is excited to announce this year’s first workshop, bam bam bammm…. A ⭐️SOUND EDITING WORKSHOP⭐️, taking place on the 24th of November (sunday) from 11-13:00 in the dorms, at Event Space 2!

Did you know, that the sound of a hair spray is surprisingly similar to the noise that a gas stove makes? 🍿 During the workshop, participants will work in groups to experiment with sound making for muted movie clips. 🎞️Bring the most random objects that you think could make cool sounds, and don’t forget to mention the event to your friends who you would love to work in a group with (otherwise we assign you:) ❤️

🫡‼️Hello our lovely CUT enjoyers! What a better way to spend your Sunday afternoon (17/11) if not at our collaborative event with Amsterdam Documentary Film Festival? Yep... it is this time of the year again. ‼️😝

This time, we are presenting you with a programme of 3 short films centred around the theme of Grief. The past year, for many of us, has been filled with this lingering feeling of sorrow. Whether some have been grieving past inhibitions and present expectations, a lost presence of someone dear, or idyllic visions of a just world that seem to never be fulfilled... We believe that all of us are in need of a space that would allow to reflect, process and move forward with the pent up emotions that we have been carrying. 

To express this need, we decided to collaborate with IDFA on the curation of a movie programme that will be followed by a discussion moderated by the CUT’s lovely Co-chair - Amelija - and with the directors of the respective shorts. ‼️😝🫣

⏱️When? 17/11, Sunday, 8 PM. We leave the dorms at 7.20 PM (20 minute bike ride)⏱️
