ISSUE
Del Carmen houses the largest contiguous in the ; however, the and livelihood are overlooked, and there is a lack of educational spaces for mangroves.

SOLUTION
The Delta aims to build disaster resilient and multi-functional spaces in the community and educate about the importance of mangroves.

Lokallab & EEMY are currently designing this to become a cultural, educational and informational center on the Mangroves.
We hope to strongly embed our culture into the design, and we plan to create the structure entirely out of materials sourced from the island.

With the municipality of Del Carmen and Kids for Kids, we hope to champion mangroves and foster a space where education and regeneration can thrive.
With our center, we hope to boost livelihood and connect people to the culture of mangroves in order to protect it for generations to come.

THE MOMOCHI CIRCULATION

“The Momochi Circulation” is a that reconnects the isolated and urban functions. The building consists of two parts: the EVENT x BUSINESS BLOCK
including event spaces and workshops to present the event and education identity of Momochi from years before, and the LIVING x WORK BLOCK, which is a combination of and .

The identity of has been created by certain important periods in history, like the event in 1985 and in the Edo period, the pine tree forest along the important road which was used by people who joined the pilgrimages to the Atago Mountain shrine, close to Momochi. The name “Momochi” is said to have originated from the fact that in the old days, the footprints of people who came and went in all different directions, hence the name “Momochi”. This meaning is translated in the of this building. Each program is accessible by the multi-storied ramps in different directions, all of which provides a seamless architectural experience for people. People come and go within the hub, like a lot of footprints on the sandy Momochi that form lines and ramps. This network activates Seaside Momochi into a place where and intersect. A rental service within the hub enables residents, workers and neighbors to move in and around the site. It connects the beach, the neighborhood, the surrounding facilities, the station, the workplaces and the houses. As a service specializing in food, which is a main part of Fukuoka's culture, an automatic food delivery car will be also installed to encourage the seaside activities.

YOGA VILLAGE

is designed as a modern but peaceful green safe heaven, inspired by Yoga in an area of 5 acres. The program consists of 50 chalets, a and a yoga . To achieve an atmosphere that is but also exciting a mixture of greenery, and materials is used.

The main bearing structures consists of bamboo frames supporting a bamboo thatched roof. The organic roofs are further expressed with arched bamboo. By using different types of bamboo an arch like expression can be achieved. The stronger straight bamboo is used in the columns and a more flexible type in the arches.

Bamboo is used abundantly throughout the whole village and is most vibrant in the supporting structural elements. To give a more mystic and natural feeling (reused) concrete is also implemented in the in flooring and non-load bearing walls.
