Abortion is a human right guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal.
When abortion is criminalized, pregnant individuals are pushed toward unsafe practices that threaten their reproductive health and lives. Criminalization restricts informed decision-making, bodily autonomy, and the right to choose a quality life. Decriminalizing abortion is essential to ensure safe, dignified, and accessible care allowing every pregnant individual to terminate unwanted or unintended pregnancies without fear, stigma, or risk to life.
