There are 10000 taxi’s in Kathmandu. The largest owner of taxi’s ( cars with a taxi license) has about 20 cars. There is an official “by the meter” system by the government. This is not or hardly used and each time taking a taxi is subject to negotiation. Sarathi just started and charges by the fair price system, gives respect to the driver and takes the hassle away from the taxi/car owners and pleases with it’s service the Kathmandu consumer and growing middle class. Customers currently can call a call center or download the app and order the taxi. Sarathi monitors it’s cars with GPS.
