We weren’t initially planning on purchasing a weanling this year, but after spotting some we really liked at Woodlands Stud NZ, we came away from tonight’s NZB Standardbred Online gavelhouse.com Standardbred Weanling sale with what was probably our favourite of them all… and no surprise, it’s a trotter!

He is bred on the same cross as our dual Group 1 winner Bet N Win and hails from one of the most prominent trotting families in Australasia, and one that has produced quality performers time and time again.

He’s a lovely c**t with plenty of character and presence and we are excited to see what he develops into.

We’ll be offering a limited number of shares in him, so if you’d like more information or are interested in getting involved, feel free to get in touch:

OUR HARMONY 💚

This daughter of Bettor’s Delight joined us around a month ago after making the trip down from the North Island and has settled in well since arriving.

Owned by Woodlands Stud and the Woodlands Partnership No.3 Syndicate, Harmony’s a lovely strong mare and we’re looking forward to getting to know her better over the coming months.

We’re grateful to her connections for the opportunity and can’t wait to see what lies ahead with this exciting addition to the team.

✨ ‘JOSIE’ ✨

The last of our 2026 NZB Standardbred Yearling Sales breaking-in graduates is this standout filly by exciting young trotting sire Ecurie D and out of a sister to champion trotter Callmethebreeze.

We’re still pinching ourselves that we get to train her and she was an absolute pleasure to break in.

She’s the second we’ve had by this exciting European sire from YDF Stallions, and so far they have both impressed us with their attitude and natural ability.

Josie now heads out for a well-earned spell and we’re already looking forward to welcoming her back into the barn for her next preparation 🐎

Where’s Bet N Win?

Well he’s right back where it all started, enjoying some R&R at his birthplace Breckon Farms.

It’s not the preparation we had planned, and it means he won’t get the chance to defend his Rowe Cup crown this season. But one thing will never change for us, the horse always comes first.

When Kenny wasn’t performing to his usual standard, that was his way of telling us something wasn’t quite right. So we listened.

He’s now having a decent spell, giving him the time he needs to reset and recover. We’re hopeful that with patience and care, he can come back and compete at the high level we know he’s capable of.

Because at the end of the day, our job is always about doing what is right by the horse 💙

Thanks to Nigel and the team at Breckon Farms for treating him like a King, even upgrading him to the penthouse paddock with water views for his stay! 😉
