Meet the faces of AWS Legal!

Get to know Chris Peddie, Partner based in Invercargill – Waihōpai.

Chris specialises in residential, commercial and rural property conveyancing, business acquisitions, corporate and commercial law, working with a mix of business and rural clients across the South and further afield.

From conveyancing and financing, to company structures, commercial documentation including complex shareholder agreements, share transactions, the issue of new securities, leases, and trust work, Chris focuses on making sure everything runs smoothly for his clients. Chris has been actively involved in putting together many large farming and commercial syndicate structures.

After graduating from the University of Canterbury in 2001, Chris joined AWS Legal. Chris has built a reputation for practical, reliable advice, becoming a Partner in 2006. His work often spans both the Business and Rural teams, giving him a well rounded perspective across different sectors.

Chris enjoys working closely with clients to understand their needs and support their ongoing success.

Outside the office, he is the current President of the Southland Branch of the New Zealand Law Society, a board member of the New Zealand Automobile Association, whilst previously having been involved with the Marist Rugby Club for 16 years, manager of the Southland Men’s 7’s Rugby Team. Chris is spending as much of his free time at the golf course whilst also supporting family activities on the weekend and enjoys a range of social pursuits.
