For my 50th birthday I had one wish- to play golf in New Zealand 🇳🇿. Today that wish came true…Thanks Mom! 😘
Te Arai Links 🔗 on the North Island of NZ is a new resort that boasts 2 incredible golf courses.
The North course, which is featured here, is a Tom Doak design and is routed mostly through a sandy forest 🌳 a short distance from the ocean. Being only a few months open I had my hesitations about how the course would play. To my surprise 😮 the conditions were perfect 😍. It was as if the course had been around for years.
The course starts and finishes at the ocean 🌊 and the transition from forest 🌳 to sea is sublime. The greens are some of the most imaginative I have seen from Mr. Doak and it was a most welcomed change of pace. The course does have some growing in to do around the edges but that should in no way deter you from paying a visit to this truly amazing course. Just make sure and leave time to play a second round, as learning the lines off some tees and some approaches will perplex you the first time around 🤬.
