💥 Day after full moon 💥

With an incredible weather forecast, we headed out for another day on the water chasing a feed of fresh fish. The sea was flat calm, and being just one day after the full moon, I was keen to see how the bite would play out.
Fishing started slow, but we chipped away at a few trevally and snapper in the shallows before pushing deeper in search of fish on the chew. One of my reliable marks produced again, with more snapper, trevally, and pink maomao coming over the side.
When that bite tapered off, we moved to a new spot which turned out to be a winner, delivering more quality snapper, trevally, and pink maomao.
All up, an excellent day on the water with great customers and crew. The fishing was slow but steady, and the conditions couldn’t have been better!

💥 Fishing with a full moon 💥

Away we go again heading out on another public fishing trip in the stunning Bay of Plenty. With the shallow reefs not fishing like last week I headed out deeper and it paid off, we got onto snapper, trevally, red snapper and pink maomao. After the groups decided we had caught enough trevally we moved on to check out a few more marks where we caught a nice size blue cod, more snapper and a couple of kahawai. Great day out on Ratahi!

🔥 Fishing was on fire 🔥

Wow, with an incredible forecast ahead Ratahi headed out with a couple of groups on another public fishing trip, the first spot was soo good we stayed there all day! The fishing was absolutely amazing catching a variety of fish including kahawai, John dory, trevally, blue cod, tarakihi and lots of snapper! The snapper were feeding well and were in excellent condition, we were catching good size fish with the biggest stretching to an impressive 82 cm‼️ It was a memorable day on Ratahi, made even better by picture‑perfect weather.

💥Freediving and fishing at Motiti 💥
I had the absolute pleasure of taking the Wahine O Te Moana group out to Motiti Island for a day of freediving and fishing, and what an incredible day it turned out to be. With perfect weather, we headed straight to the island so a few of the girls could jump in for a free dive before we started fishing. The morning bite was tough, but we still managed to land a nice trevally, a few snapper, and a couple of gurnard.
After checking out a few more marks, I decided to move into shallower water — and it paid off. We found an awesome snapper spot and pulled in some beautiful fish up to 48cm.
All in all, a fantastic day out on Ratahi, and I can’t wait to take this crew out again‼️
