Almost everyone who comes in for the first time says some version of the same thing. They are not quite sure what this is.
They know it is not a facial, they know it is not a spa treatment, and beyond that it is a bit of a mystery. That is fair enough. Facial massage sits in a strange gap between wellbeing and skin, and most people have never had anything like it. So here is the short version. It is hands-on work with the facial muscles and the lymphatic system underneath your skin. I release the facial tension you have been holding, support drainage so puffiness settles, and get circulation and oxygen flow moving so the skin looks brighter. You leave looking rested and feeling calmer.
Whatever you were imagining, it is probably gentler and more useful than that.
Bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz. I see clients at Hands On Studio in Te Puke, with people coming through from Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa.

People sometimes ask what they should do before they come in. The answer is nothing. You do not need to arrive with good skin or a clean face or an explanation for why you have left it this long. You do not need to know what is wrong or have the right words for it. You turn up as you are, we talk for a few minutes, and then I take it from there. Your face will tell me what it needs once my hands are on it.
That is what the training is for. All you have to do is lie down and let someone else be in charge for an hour, which for a lot of the women I see is the hardest part of the whole treatment. There is nothing to get right here. Just come as you are.
Bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz. I am at Hands On Studio in Te Puke on Thursdays and Fridays.

Every treatment starts with a few questions, and none of it is small talk.
How you are sleeping tells me whether your jaw is gripping all night. Headaches at the temples or behind the eyes usually point straight back to the jaw. What your work looks like matters too, because screens, driving and desks all leave their mark on the facial muscles. And whatever has been going on lately matters most of all, because stress does not stay in the mind, it settles in the face.
By the time you lie back, I already know roughly where to start and how much pressure your face is going to want. That is the difference between a facial massage that follows a routine and one that follows you. If you would like to experience it for yourself, bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz.
Clients come through to Hands On Studio in Te Puke from across the Bay of Plenty, from Tauranga to Papamoa.
If you have never had a treatment like this, here is exactly what happens, so there are no surprises. We start by sitting down and talking. I ask where you hold, how you have been sleeping, whether you get headaches, what your jaw does when you are stressed. Not because I am looking for faults, but because your face makes a lot more sense when I know what your life looks like. Then you lie back somewhere warm and quiet, and I work by hand through the face, jaw, neck and scalp. Some of it is firm and intentional, some of it slow and releasing. No machines, nothing invasive. Most people are surprised by how much facial tension they were holding and how quickly the facial muscles let go once someone gets in there properly. You leave looking softer and usually feeling calmer than you expected to. That is a first FaceUp® Method treatment at Hands On Studio in Te Puke.

Your face is going to change as you age, and that is not a fault to be corrected. The skin softens, the lines settle in, and everything you have felt over the years leaves its mark. None of that is going wrong. It is a life showing on your face. This work supports your skin as it ages rather than fighting it.
A FaceUp® Method treatment keeps the facial muscles soft and mobile, supports circulation so the skin stays healthy and bright, and eases the tension that makes a face look tired rather than simply older. The point is not a younger face. It is a face that looks rested, cared for and like yours.
That is what natural, gentle facial massage can do over time, here at Hands On Studio in Te Puke. Bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz. I am here on Thursdays and Fridays, with clients coming through from across the Bay of Plenty.

So much of the beauty world starts with what is supposedly wrong. What to shrink, smooth, lift or erase. This work starts somewhere else. It begins with what your face is holding, and how it feels to live in, rather than what needs correcting.
A FaceUp® Method treatment eases facial tension, releases the tight facial muscles around the jaw and brow, and brings circulation back to the skin. You do look fresher and more rested afterwards. But nothing about you has been fixed or changed, because nothing was wrong to begin with. Your face is not a problem to solve. It is yours, and it is allowed to look like a life that has been lived.
If you would like a treatment that starts from care rather than correction, bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz. Clients come through to Hands On Studio in Te Puke from across the Bay of Plenty, from Tauranga to Papamoa.
A gentle reminder.
You do not need fixing.
You do not need perfect skin.
You do not need to look younger.
You do not need to become someone else.
The lines on your face tell stories. Your body has carried you through every season of your life. Your smile, your softness, the particular way you are cannot be replicated.
In a world that keeps asking us to improve, optimise and change, there is something quietly radical about remembering that your worth was never about how you look.
You are most beautiful when you feel at home in yourself.
That is the heart of why I do this work. Every treatment at Hands On Studio in Te Puke begins there. Not with what needs fixing, but with you, just as you are.

You do not owe anyone a better face. Not the internet, not the people who profit from you feeling not quite enough, not even yourself on a hard day. Somewhere along the way many of us started treating our faces like projects, always one improvement away from being acceptable. You are allowed to step out of that.
To look after yourself because it feels good, not because you are trying to fix a fault. Care and self-improvement are not the same thing. One comes from kindness, the other from pressure. This winter, choose the kind one. If you would like an hour of care for yourself, bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz.

The goal here was never to give you a different face. It was to help you feel more at home in the one you have. When you lie back for a treatment, I am not trying to change your features.
I work slowly through the facial muscles by hand, easing the tension held in your jaw and brow, letting your face soften and your breathing slow. Most people feel it before they see it. The tightness lifts, the shoulders drop, and something in you settles. The brighter, more rested face in the mirror afterwards is real, but it is the feeling people come back for. That sense of being comfortable in your own skin again.
That is what facial wellbeing means at Hands On Studio in Te Puke. Bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz. I see clients here on Thursdays and Fridays, with people coming through from Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa.

We treat rest like the reward at the end of a long list, something we are allowed only once everything else is done. But the list never really ends. There is always one more thing.
Slowing down is not what you get for finishing. It is part of how you keep going. An hour where you lie still and let someone take care of you is not time taken away from everything else. It is part of what makes the rest of it possible.
This winter, let the pause be the point, not the prize. If you would like to book a moment of facial wellbeing for yourself, bookings are open online at handsonstudio.nz.
