~ MATARIKI TABLE OF REMEMBRANCE ~

Kia ora whanau

Matariki is a time to remember our loved ones. The star Pōhutukawa invites us to pause and shed tears of remembrance. In te ao Māori (the Māori worldview), these tears are a precious gift of love and a tool for healing.

As part of our school Matariki evening on July 1st, we will gather to read aloud the names of loved ones who have passed away since the rising of the star cluster in 2025.

Pōhutukawa nourishes us spiritually by helping us release this grief, honor their spirits, and embrace their enduring legacy.

If you would like your whānau member to be acknowledged, a Table of Remembrance will be set up at the front of the hall for you to place photos of your loved ones on your arrival.
