HaHa Around The World

Even though Arequipa is known as the White City, it is a city of many coulours, too. Be it the colourful Peruvian clothes or an interesting play of light, one can discover many surprises while walking the streets.

Arequipa, the second most populated city of Peru, is considered to be a Spanish island in an indigenous sea - in no other Peruvian place you will find so many examples of the European colonial architecture. Since we are in South America where "colonial" is a synonym for "white", Arequipa is also being known as the White City of Peru.

Welcome to Arequipa, the city in a valley overlooked by three high volcanoes - Pichu Pichu, Misti and Chachani (the first two of them on this picture), what makes it the city with one of the best sceneries in South America. Wherever you go and wherever you look, these three sentinels will be there, watching you from their glorious heights.

After many thousands of kilometers in all the South American countries, Peru, the most touristy of all, is finally here! As good adventurers, we spent our first night directly on the border. Why? Because nothing beats the sign, gigantic flag and two gringos in a tent welcoming you to the country! ^_^

CZECHO-SLOVAK SPECIAL: And so we got back, for the last time on our journey, to Argentina. Our steps led directly to one special place - in Gran Chaco province, on the main rail and road route across northern Argentina to Salta, there is a town with simple name Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña. Why is it so special? This town was cofounded by the Czechoslovak immigrants and their community keeps its traditions and love to the countries of their ancestors till nowadays, forming the largest Czecho-Slovak community in South America.
