I used to wonder why fathers were so protective, so cautious, and so hesitant to let their daughters out of their sight. Now that I’m having my own, I realize it wasn't about restriction, it was about protection. Father is a daughter’s first line of defense. I also never understood the depth of that until now. The world can be a harsh place, and the thought of any mistreatment or pain reaching her is a weight fathers feel right in their hearts. Being a girl dad is the greatest blessing, but it’s also a biggest responsibility to protect their little soul from a world that doesn’t always heart women and girls the way they deserves.

To all the girl dads out there, I finally understand. 👣🙏

NB: Took the whole day just to capture this best picture of my little angel. Seeing her sleep so peacefully makes me realize why our fathers were so strict. It’s a heavy responsibility to guard a heart this pure. For Safe keeping purpose.

The Antonov An-124-100 cargo planes were used in 2013 and 2014 to deliver heavy equipment for the PNG LNG project, primarily landing at the specially constructed Komo Airfield in the Southern Highlands. At least 88 flights were conducted to deliver over 6,000 tons of equipment.

The two airports An-124 used were JAX & Komo Airfield: The Komo airstrip was built with a 3.2-kilometer runway specifically designed to handle the Antonov An-124. 🇵🇬✈️💯

PNG-based Hevilift aircraft runs off runway at Simberi Airport

Port Moresby: A turboprop aircraft operated by Hevilift Aviation veered off the runway while landing at Simberi Airport in Papua New Guinea, in an incident that caused no injuries, the company has confirmed.

The ATR42 aircraft ran off Runway 28 at approximately 4.30pm on Thursday while landing in wet and slippery conditions, according to a statement issued by Hevilift on 15 January.

All passengers and crew disembarked safely, with no injuries reported. The aircraft had been operating a charter service from Port Moresby to Simberi, carrying 11 passengers and three crew members on board.

Hevilift said the aircraft sustained some damage and that recovery operations are under way. The incident will be reviewed in line with standard aviation safety procedures, and all relevant authorities have been notified.

Simberi Airport services the Simberi gold mine on Simberi Island in New Ireland Province and is known for challenging operating conditions, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and reduced runway friction.

Hevilift Aviation is a Papua New Guinea registered aviation company with major operations across PNG and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Founded in the 1990s, the company specialises in charter passenger services, cargo transport and helicopter operations supporting the mining, energy, construction and humanitarian sectors.

While Hevilift operates internationally, it has long maintained a strong PNG base. The company has significant Papua New Guinean ownership participation through local investors and landowner-linked entities, including involvement by state-linked resource companies over time, alongside other shareholders. Corporate filings confirm the company is registered and headquartered in Papua New Guinea, with its Mount Hagen operation serving as a key regional hub.

Air Niugini is set to step up competition with Qantas on Sydney-Port Moresby services with new aircraft and an extra weekly flight.

The Papua New Guinea flag carrier is introducing its new A220-300 fleet on the route from 29 March, with a third weekly service also planned for the city pair. The A220s will replace the 737-800s currently used on the route, which is occasionally also operated by 767s.

A Reality We Live With 🇵🇬

As a Papua New Guinean, this image speaks to a pain many of us carry quietly.

We live in a country rich in resources.. gold, oil, gas, forests, fisheries..yet everyday Papua New Guineans struggle to survive. We watch national wealth being announced in millions and billions, while families worry about school fees, hospital bills, transport money, and food on the table.
Money exists. Development plans exist. Promises exist.

But for many citizens, the impact never reaches us.
This image symbolizes the feeling of watching money lose its meaning. When corruption, poor leadership, and selfish interests take priority, currency becomes just paper..unable to buy justice, opportunity, or dignity.

The burning note is not hatred for money.
It is frustration with a system where:
basic services are underfunded, roads remain broken, hospitals lack supplies, youths are unemployed and accountability is rare.

The hands have no face because this struggle belongs to all of us.. the market seller, the student, the public servant, the unemployed youth, the parent trying to provide.

The fire represents anger, yes..but also awakening.
A reminder that Papua New Guinea deserves better than survival mode while wealth flows elsewhere...

On the 16th of September 2023 at Singapore International Airport terminal one (1). A female PNG🇵🇬 student bound for Boston, USA🇺🇸 to do Masters stood and watched Air Niugini flights that took her there and left her in Singapore returning home to Papua New Guinea.

The big bird (Kumul), her country's pride taxied out onto the runway, then accelerated as she ascended into Singapore's airspace. Overfilled with sadness, didn't see a plane; she saw the Bird of Paradise (Kumul), a true symbol of her homeland's spirit- the land of thousand tribes with many languages, a blessed paradise. She stood there all alone by herself in a foreign land speechless, only with tears rolling down her face as our Bird of Paradise gracefully disappeared into the clouds on the 48th birthday of her beloved country.

No matter where you are, home is where the heart is.
