In 2025, I allowed myself an artistic pause—a year-long hiatus from creating, not out of loss, but out of listening. It became a season of self-discovery, where I finally gave myself permission to rest from producing and simply be. I traveled to places I had postponed for the past five years, letting movement, new landscapes, and unfamiliar rhythms refill parts of me that had quietly emptied. I chose presence over pressure, spending unhurried time with friends and family, reconnecting with stories, laughter, and moments that don’t ask to be documented or transformed into art.
And yet, I missed my art—the quiet satisfaction it gives me, the way it grounds and reveals parts of myself words cannot. This year taught me that I don’t have to choose between creation and living; I want to honor both. To fulfill what I love while allowing life to remain spontaneous, fluid, and beautifully unpredictable. With this clarity, I step forward hopeful and renewed—excited for 2026 and all the art and life waiting to meet each other again.

Thank you to all those who joined and supported our Namkook event last Sunday.
I was invited last month to do a mini exhibit for this project by my college professor/curator Ms Anna Bautista but I have no available paintings to display. Despite having a month to prepare, I accepted the invite and committed to finish at least 7 paintings ( one painting per member’s solo songs) and a request to do “HOME” as the main painting.
With a fulltime work, it was hard to squeeze in painting during weekdays and manage to do them during weekends. And would you believe, i finished 11 paintings (7 pcs. 20”x20” , a diptych 16”x20 and 3 pcs 12”x12”) in less than a month?
Seeing the attendees loving your artwork is a bonus and surprising of giving away 3 of those was a way for me to reciprocate their appreciation.

Ang gabi ay madilim,
maitim... taimtim.
Ang liwanag ng buwan,
at pusikit ng bituin,
Ay naglaro ng taguan
at pareho nilang
iniwanan
ang gabi
na nag-iisa, …naninimdim.
Sa buong magdamag
nagpupuyat
ang gabi na
dala ang sakit
ng pag-iisa.
di niya ma-sino.
Walang kasama,
walang kalinga.
Hanggang sa dumating
ang umaga.
Ipakilala ko
kaya sila sa isa't isa?
Upang ang liwanag,
ang pag-asa
ang bagong panimula
Maibahagi
ng umaga sa kanya.
At ng di na
siya kailanman kailanganin pa na,
mag-isa.

A former colleague reached out to me to interpret one of his poems. He gave me several of his writings to choose from but this struck me the most.
In this poem, hope is portrayed as a powerful and enduring force. It serves as a guiding light in the midst of darkness and challenges. The darkness symbolizes difficult times or obstacles that we encounter in life. Despite these hardships, the poem emphasizes the existence of "little sparks" and "bright rays." These symbols represent moments of positivity, inspiration, or encouragement that help us navigate through the darkness.
