The BatStateU Pablo Borbon GAD Office successfully conducted the program “DEFEND: Dignity and Empowerment through Fair Employment and Enhanced Nurturing Discussions” on March 18, 2026, at the Kaunlaran Hub, Gabriela Silang Building.

The activity officially began with participant registration at 8:00 AM, followed by opening messages from Dr. Daryl M. Magpantay, Asst. Prof. Shirlyne M. Guhit, and Dr. Expedito V. Acorda, who emphasized the university’s commitment to gender equality and women empowerment. Mr. Erron Lawrenz M. Alfonso then presented the rationale, highlighting the need to address gender issues in health, workplace rights, and social protection.

A key highlight of the program was the panel discussion, which tackled women’s health concerns, cervical cancer awareness, laws protecting women, and workplace benefits such as maternity leave, lactation support, and equal opportunities. An open forum followed, encouraging participants to share insights and engage with the speakers.

The program concluded with the awarding of certificates and closing remarks from Ms. Shaira Mae DJ. Andal, reaffirming the GAD Office’s dedication to advancing gender and development initiatives.

Overall, the DEFEND program empowered participants with knowledge and strengthened their role as advocates for a more inclusive, equitable, and gender-responsive community. 💜

Pagpupugay sa kabayanihan, katapangan, at walang sawang sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani ngayong Araw ng Kagitingan. Sa paggunita na ito, kinikilala natin hindi lamang ang ambag ng kalalakihan, kundi pati na rin ang mahalagang papel ng kababaihan at iba’t ibang sektor sa pagtatanggol ng ating kalayaan at dignidad bilang isang bansa.

Sa diwa ng Gender and Development (GAD), patuloy nating isinusulong ang pagkakapantay-pantay, inklusibidad, at pagbibigay-halaga sa kakayahan ng bawat isa—anuman ang kasarian—sa paghubog ng isang makatarungan at maunlad na lipunan.
