TODAY IS EASTER WEDNESDAY!

Today is Easter Wednesday, during the Octave of Easter, a time when the Church continues to celebrate the joy of Christ’s Resurrection. The Gospel for today, Luke 24:13-35, recounts the story of Jesus appearing to two disciples on the road to Emmaus. The disciples are walking, saddened and confused by recent events, unaware that the risen Christ is walking beside them. It is only later, when Jesus breaks the bread, that their eyes are opened, and they recognize Him.

This story reminds us that the presence of the risen Christ is often hidden in ordinary moments. Just like the disciples, we may not immediately recognize Him in our daily lives—whether in the company of friends, acts of service, prayer, or even in challenges we face. The breaking of the bread, a simple act, becomes the moment of revelation, showing that Christ’s presence can transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.

In this middle of the Easter Octave, the Gospel encourages us to keep our hearts open and attentive. Christ is with us, even when we do not yet see Him, and He reveals Himself in unexpected ways—especially through simple acts of love, kindness, and faith.

Prayer:
Risen Lord, open our eyes to recognize You in our lives. Help us to walk with faith, rejoice in Your presence, and share Your love with others. Amen.
