𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞?

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧

Whenever I do my devotionals, I always reflect on something that has practical application and is relevant to my current season. Right now, I’m journeying through the book of Jeremiah. To be honest, one of the passages I tend to avoid is 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟐𝟗:𝟏𝟏. One reason is that it’s too common—𝙜𝙖𝙨-𝙜𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙖𝙮𝙪 𝙣𝙞 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚. The second reason is that, in this season of my life, I tend to punish myself, and I struggle to accept that God has a plan for me. It’s like, “𝘼𝙮𝙖𝙬 𝙣𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙞 𝙠𝙤 𝙚-𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚, 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙.” Why would He love someone who continually disobeys Him?

But today, I came across that passage again. This time, my focus wasn’t just on the promise of a better future but on the verses that come after it:
"𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙪𝙥𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩. 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙡𝙚."
(Jeremiah 29:12-14)

This passage was God’s message to the Israelites in exile, reminding them that even in their brokenness, they were not forgotten.

Verse 12 highlights how prayer is the key to reconnecting with God. The Israelites had suffered the consequences of their rebellion, but here, God reassures them that when they sincerely call on Him, He will listen. No matter how far we’ve strayed, He is always willing to hear those who seek Him.

Verse 13 emphasizes wholehearted devotion. Seeking God isn’t about routines or rituals—it’s about genuine desire. The phrase “𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩” echoes the greatest commandment (Deuteronomy 6:5), calling us to love God fully. It’s a reminder that God is always near to those who truly seek Him.

Verse 14 speaks of restoration. The Israelites had been scattered due to their disobedience, yet God promises to gather them again. This reflects His unwavering faithfulness—He never abandons His people. It’s not just about a physical return but spiritual renewal through Jesus, who gathers all people to Him.

So, what does this mean for us? No matter how lost we feel, God is always near. True seeking requires wholehearted faith—half-hearted devotion won’t bring transformation. Even in struggles, 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚, 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙃𝙞𝙢.

So, friends, even in seasons of waiting and difficulty, may we hold on to this truth: 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣. 𝙂𝙤𝙙’𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 🙏✨

𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕?


I can still remember telling the Lord, “Lord, I hate this OA heart jud.” There have been times when my mind and heart wouldn’t align. The mind wants to rationalize things, while the heart insists on pursuing something, even when it’s wrong.

Sola Scriptura reminds us of the reality of our hearts as described in Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?"
This verse comes from a passage where the prophet Jeremiah contrasts trusting in man with trusting in God, highlighting the corrupted nature of the human heart apart from Him. In Hebrew , the "heart" represents the core of a person — their thoughts, will, emotions, and desires. Jeremiah emphasizes that the human heart has an innate tendency toward self-deception. It can justify sin, rationalize wrong actions, and lead people away from God. Jeremiah also describes the heart as “desperately sick,” meaning it is not just flawed but deeply broken with a moral and spiritual sickness that cannot be healed by human effort alone.

𝑺𝒐, 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕?
The answer is God alone. Yes, He understands your heart and mine. The very next verse states: "I, the Lord, search the heart and test the mind..." (Jeremiah 17:10). This is why Ezekiel 36:26 promises a "new heart," a promise fulfilled in Christ. Through Him, we are given a new heart and transformed by His Spirit.

𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕?
The good news is, you don’t have to. Stop trying so hard to make sense of it, and instead, entrust it to the One who already understands it completely: Jesus.

The heart is so complex and deceptive that even we cannot fully comprehend our own motives or the depth of our sinfulness. And that’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Keep going, keep trusting, and keep healing. Rest your heart.; Rest your heart in him.

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈?


Have you ever questioned God? Not out of anger, but from a place of confusion—wondering why life keeps bringing you back to the same pain. Have you ever cried out, Why? Why is this happening to me? Why is my pain unceasing?

If your answer is yes, let me tell you—it’s okay. You’re not alone. Even in the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah had a moment where he poured his heart out to God, raw and unfiltered. In Jeremiah 15:18, he cried:
"Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?"

Jeremiah’s words carry the weight of anguish and despair. He felt his pain was endless and his wounds beyond healing. He even feared God might fail him, just like a dried-up stream in the desert that leaves travelers stranded.

But here’s what stands out: even in his doubt, Jeremiah didn’t turn away. He brought his pain and questions straight to God. And you know what? God didn’t rebuke him. Instead, He reassured Jeremiah of His promise: that if he stayed steadfast and spoke truth, he would remain God’s chosen messenger. God promised to strengthen him, making him “a fortified wall of bronze.” No matter how much opposition Jeremiah faced, it wouldn’t prevail—because God was with him to save and deliver him (Jeremiah 15:19-20).

This reminds us that it’s okay to cry out to God in our pain. It’s okay to ask hard questions and express your struggles. Doing so doesn’t mean your faith is weak—it shows your relationship with Him is real. And even when we don’t understand the “why” behind our suffering, we can trust that God hears us, sees us, and will deliver us in His perfect time.

𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈? 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆?

To be honest, I don’t know why either. I’ve been there too—lying awake at night, tears streaming down my face, asking God the same questions. But here’s what I do know: 𝘏𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘧𝘶𝘭. 𝘏𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 “𝘸𝘩𝘺’𝘴.”

So, keep going. Keep healing. You are not alone.

𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐭.


Have you ever heard the quotation, “Pain is inevitable”? This speaks to the reality of pain. It is an unavoidable part of life, no matter how hard we try to escape it. There will always be nights when we cannot sleep, and excruciating pain consumes us. This pain may stem from the fallen nature of humanity, the schemes of Satan, or the consequences of our own choices (free will). Sometimes, realizing that our suffering is a result of our own actions adds to the weight of the pain we must bear.

Similarly, the biblical narrative reflects a time when someone lamented with similar pain. That someone is Jeremiah, known as the "Weeping Prophet" because he continually mourned over Judah’s sins. His words resonate deeply, especially in 𝘑𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘢𝘩 𝟣𝟢:𝟣𝟫:
"𝘞𝘰𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵! 𝘔𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘴. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥, '𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘵.'”

This verse falls within a chapter where Jeremiah speaks of the futility of idol worship and Judah’s judgment. His lament is both personal and communal. The "hurt" and "grievous wound" symbolize Judah's sins—both spiritual and physical. Jeremiah acknowledges that suffering is inevitable, saying, “Truly this is an affliction.” He sees it as part of God’s just response to their rebellion. This doesn’t diminish his pain but frames it within the context of divine discipline.

Despite his anguish, he accepts the suffering, saying, “and I must bear it.” This shows his reliance on God and his willingness to submit to His will, even in hardship.

So, friends, when pain or affliction overwhelms us—whether personal or communal—may we be honest about our suffering, acknowledging its weight without denial. Let us also endure with trust in God’s purposes. While the affliction here is tied to judgment, the broader principle is clear: suffering, though grievous, can be borne with God’s help and purpose.

𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒐𝒌𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆. 𝑮𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒇𝒇𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺,
𝘈 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱, 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘥,
𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘨𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩,

𝘈𝘯 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦, 𝘴𝘰 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦.

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺, 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘥—
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭, 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵.
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦,
𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵.
𝘈 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘴𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘴𝘰 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵,
𝘈 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦.
