The Bancaan Creek serves as one of the important tributaries flowing into the Calumpang River, carrying water that sustains communities, agriculture, and local ecosystems. As this creek connects directly to the river, any waste, pollution, or harmful materials disposed of in the creek will eventually reach the Calumpang River and affect the entire watershed.

Let us work together to keep Bancaan Creek clean and free from garbage. Proper waste disposal, regular clean-up activities, and responsible environmental practices can make a significant difference in preserving the health of our waterways.

A clean creek means a cleaner river, a healthier environment, and a safer future for everyone. Every small action counts in protecting our natural resources for the next generation.

Did you know?
Hydrophis semperi, also known as the freshwater sea snake, is a critically endangered reptile unique to the Philippines, most notably found in Lake Taal. Growing up to 50–70 cm long, it stands out as one of the very few sea snakes adapted entirely to freshwater habitats, feeding mainly on small fish and eels. It has special adaptations like a paddle-shaped tail for swimming and the ability to absorb oxygen through its skin while underwater, but its limited range and ongoing threats make it highly vulnerable to extinction.

ATM: Convening of the Municipal CBMS Coordinating Board in preparation for the conduct of the 2027 CBMS.

The Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) is an organized, localized data-collection and processing system. It is critical because it generates grassroots-level socio-economic data (e.g., poverty incidence, health, education, and housing), allowing local governments and national agencies to make evidence-based decisions rather than relying on guesswork.

Key reasons highlighting the importance of the CBMS include:

Targeted Social Protection: It identifies the rightful beneficiaries for poverty-reduction and social welfare programs (such as food subsidies, health programs, and educational support), ensuring government aid goes exactly to those who need it most.

Effective Resource Allocation: By pinpointing specific community needs and gaps in basic services, local government units (LGUs) can strategically construct facilities and efficiently distribute municipal budgets.

Inclusive Local Planning: It amplifies the voices of vulnerable sectors—including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, indigenous groups, and solo parents—incorporating their lived realities into a community's Comprehensive Development Plan.

Data-Driven Disaster & Infrastructure Management: The system frequently utilizes geotagging, providing geospatial maps that help municipalities plan for disaster response, manage existing infrastructure, and build strategic service facilities.

The International Day for Biological Diversity is observed annually on May 22. The 2026 campaign theme, "Acting Locally for Global Impact," connects grassroots conservation initiatives with the 23 targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Why This Theme MattersThe theme recognizes that reversing nature loss is impossible through government action alone. Success relies on local communities, indigenous populations, and cities applying the "whole-of-society" approach to meet 2030 sustainability

The Engineering Geological and Geohazard Assessment Report (EGGAR) is a crucial, mandatory document in the Philippines designed to evaluate geological risks—such as landslides, flooding, and ground subsidence—for infrastructure, housing, and land development projects.

Its primary importance lies in ensuring the safety, stability, and regulatory compliance of construction projects to prevent disaster-related loss of life and property.Key aspects of the importance of EGGAR include:Regulatory Compliance (ECC Requirement): EGGAR is a mandatory requirement under DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2000-28 for obtaining an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for government and private projects.

Geohazard Risk Mitigation.
It identifies natural hazards (earthquakes, volcanic activity, landslide susceptibility) and man-made risks (liquefaction, slope instability) on a site, allowing developers to implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

Ensuring Safety and Sustainability:
By thoroughly studying site conditions, EGGAR ensures that development projects are built on safe foundations, reducing future risks of infrastructure collapse.

Proper Planning and Design.
It provides detailed data on topography, hydrology, and soil properties (e.g., compaction), which is vital for engineering designs, such as foundations and retaining walls.Regulatory Endorsement:

The report is reviewed by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Technical Review Committee to ensure its technical accuracy before endorsing it to the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) for ECC approval.
