✅ Hindi na po kailangan ng RIG o rabies immunoglobulin basta ang pasyente ay for booster na lang kahit gaano kalala. Yes! Kahit ulo pa yan, kahit wakwak at kahit never na RIG basta nacomplete ang antirabies vaccine.

✅ Ang booster anti rabies vaccine ay standard 2 sessions! Hindi po maaring isa, o ipag sabay ang dalawang tusok sa isang session.

✅ Gaano kadalas mag booster? Depende ito sa exposure. Tuwing makakagat at kalmot ay nagkakaroon ng "risk assessment" sa mga pasyente.

Low risk 💉 ibig sabihin ay bakunado at hindi pa lagpas ng tatlong buwan ang bakuna ngunit nakagat at kalmot ng alaga, hayop na mababantayan, hayop na bakunado at hindi naman sa ulo o leeg ang sugat. Maaring OBSERVE LANG ANG HAYOP for 14 days.

Ang rabies ay isang delikadong virus na nakukuha sa kagat at kalmot ng mga infected na a*o, pusa at iba pang uri ng hayop. Kung hindi naagapan ang pagkalat nito sa katawan, maaari itong ikamatay.

SINTOMAS NG RABIES
• Sakit ng ulo at lagnat
• Masakit at manhid ang bahaging kinagat ng hayop
• Deliryo at paralysis
• Pamumulikat ng mga kalamnan

KAHALAGAHAN NG ANTI-RABIES VACCINE

Ito ay mabisang paraan para hindi tamaan ng rabies virus ang mga alagang hayop. Ang anti-rabies vaccine ay dapat tinuturok taun-taon sa alagang a*o at pusa, simula sa edad na 3 buwan pataas.

MGA DAPAT GAWIN KAPAG NAKAGAT O NAKALMOT NG A*O O PUSA:

1. Hugasan ng tubig at sabon ang kinagat o kinalmot na bahagi ng katawan ng loob ng 15 minuto.
2. Lagyan at linisin ang sugat gamit ang antiseptic o alcohol.
3. Huwag takpan o balutan ang sugat.
4. Huwag lagyan ng katas ng bawang o gamitan ng batong buhay ang sugat.
5. Huwag dalhin sa albularyo o ipagamot sa tandok ang sugat.
6. Ikulong muna ang a*o o pusang nangagat at obserbahan ang kilos, ugali at kalusugan ng alaga sa loob ng 14 na araw.1
7. Pumunta kaagad sa pinakamalapit na ANIMAL BITE TREATMENT CENTER (ABTC) at magpaturok ng anti-rabies vaccine

What are the symptoms of rabies?

The virus enters the body through an animal bite or exposure to an infected animal’s saliva. It then travels to the brain before a person experiences any symptoms.
Depending on factors such as the type of rabies virus, the location of the exposure bite, and any existing immunity, the incubation period may last for weeks or months.
The first symptoms that an infected human may experience may be similar to the flu which include general fatigue or discomfort, as well as fever or prolonged headache. The patient may also feel itching, prickling, or discomfort at the site of exposure.
Two forms of rabies can occur: furious and paralytic. In the case of furious rabies, the afflicted will descend into more severe symptoms—nausea, vomiting, agitation, anxiety, confusion, hyperactivity, difficulty in swallowing, excessive salivation, insomnia, and partial paralysis.
Furious rabies can also affect a person’s perception of reality and behavior. The virus may cause delirium, hydrophobia, aerophobia, a fear of attempting to drink fluids due to the difficulty of swallowing water, hallucinations, and abnormal or aggressive behavior (such as biting).
For paralytic rabies, it may take a longer, less dramatic course, wherein muscles gradually get paralyzed beginning at the location of exposure. After this, a coma will slowly develop.
For both cases, once these symptoms appear, the disease is usually fatal. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in America reports less than 20 cases of human survival from clinical rabies to date.
