𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐖𝐎-𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐘 𝐋𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐇 𝐀𝐋𝐔𝐌𝐍𝐈

Basilan State College (BaSC) formally received the newly completed Two-Storey Lumah Alumni on April 28, 2026, at the BaSC grounds, Barangay Sumagdang, Isabela City, Basilan.

The facility is a project of the Provincial Government of Basilan, funded through the 20% Development Fund. It was officially turned over to the College as part of the Provincial Government’s continuing support for educational development, institutional facilities, and alumni engagement.

College President Dr. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain expressed the institution’s sincere gratitude to the Provincial Government of Basilan, the Office of the Provincial Engineer, and all offices involved in the completion of the project. She emphasized that the Lumah Alumni will serve as a meaningful space for connection, collaboration, and continuing engagement among BaSC graduates and the College.

Hon. Nasser A. Salain, President of the BaSC Alumni Association and Board Member of the 1st District of Basilan, joined the ceremony, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Sheila U. Alonzo, officials and personnel of the Provincial Government, BaSC officials, faculty, staff, alumni, and student leaders.

The turnover of the Lumah Alumni marks another significant step in strengthening BaSC’s institutional support systems as it continues to serve its students, graduates, and stakeholders. Envisioned as a home for the College’s graduates, the facility will provide a venue for alumni engagement, mentoring, collaboration, and initiatives that connect past, present, and future members of the BaSC community. Its completion reflects the value of sustained partnership between public service and education in creating spaces that honor institutional history, strengthen community ties, and contribute to the continuing growth of students, graduates, and the wider Basilan community.

Under the leadership of College President Hja. Haipa Abdurahim-Salain, EdD, Basilan State College proudly extends its warmest congratulations to CHED Commissioner and Chairperson of the BaSC Board of Trustees, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, on being conferred the 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐓. 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝.

This distinction, conferred by the 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 (𝐀𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏), recognizes his sustained and strategic contributions to the institutionalization of quality assurance mechanisms, the advancement of accreditation systems, and the strengthening of academic standards in Philippine higher education.

Comm. Aquino’s leadership reflects a rigorous commitment to governance anchored in accountability, continuous quality improvement, and evidence-based evaluation. As Chairperson of the BaSC Board of Trustees, his leadership remains instrumental in reinforcing the College’s direction toward academic excellence and institutional transformation.
