To forgive someone does not mean anything
I condemn his behaviour.
It doesn't even mean forget the way it hurt you
and don’t even allow them to hurt you anymore.
Forgiveness means making peace with what happened.
It means acknowledging your wound,
giving you permission to feel pain,
and to understand that you no longer need that pain.
It means letting go of pain and resentment
so I can heal and move forward.
Forgiveness is a gift to yourself .
It frees you from the past and allows you to live in the present time.
When you forgive yourself and forgive others you are truly free.
To forgive is to set a prisoner free
and discover that the prisoner was you.
