“Either / Neither”

Some parts were still there.
Other parts had been changed.
Someone lived there. You could tell.
The ceiling was not that high and had cobwebs.
They weren’t dangerous. They were just there.
The windows had slats. Some were new. Some were not.
There are holes in the wooden wall. That came from frames that had once hung there.
No one remembered what the frames held.
A dent in the light switch.
It had been turned on and off many times.
There was also a table.
Spills, left some marks.
Together, they made a room that was not quite a room.
Not exactly real.
Not exactly remembered.
The last person who lived there is trying to remember it.
The house. The parts. The walls.
But each time they do, something fades.
Soon, nothing will be left.

~ In quiet neighborhoods, it doesn’t take much. A flicker, a shadow, a signal gone wrong.
The image appears familiar, but something isn’t right. A street becomes two. A world splits. Suspicion begins.
This work imagines suburban fear mirrored into itself, where monsters don’t come from elsewhere.
-A direct reference from the 1960 episode of ‘Twilight Zone’ with the same title that explores paranoia, mob mentality and the dangers of fear, turning people against each other.
